Jock McDonald Photography

Jock is an incredibly talented human. Always bringing something unexpected to the fore. His photography is as good as it gets. But when he creates the woven pieces, suddenly that incredible photography turns into sculpture. And the art turns into an experience. Add having the honor of Jock delivering and installing the piece himself, and the experience of the art deeps, as does my appreciation. The piece tells a story beyond whats in the frame. And thats a testament to Jock the Talented Human. Thank you, Jock!

I did an author's photo shoot with Jock McDonald a few years ago in wine country. I am still using those photos today across a broad range of social media, dust jacket for my new novel, etc. Jock is not a photographer. He is an artist who happens to work with a camera. I have worked with a number of photographers. And, yeah, they all know shutter speed and aperture and depth of field, but they don't know composition, and lighting, and that certain ineffable thing that Jock knows, that you can't teach. In addition to him getting sublime images, in addition to him making you look great, in addition to him capturing who you are, or who you want to be, he's a cool guy, a fun guy, a smart guy, an articulate guy. If I could use one photographer for all the author photo shoots I've had to do it would be Jock. Brilliant eye, unfailingly professional, simply the ne plus ultra of photographers that I've personally ever intersected with.
