One of the best churches in the US. Father Nazarius and father Kirill are wonderful people. I encourage everyone to come and to pray is this beautiful church.

Holy Virgin Mary Cathedral is a beautiful and historic Orthodox church (OCA) in Silver Lake with frequent bilingual services, spiritual and cultural events, such as the annual Slavic festival, and this is largely thanks to the tireless labors and prayers of its priest, Father Nazari.  Father Nazari is a quintessential bridge-builder, not just within the Orthodox community, or even throughout Los Angeles, but beyond.  He can connect and speak with people of all ethnicities/nationalities (and particularly in these times, this is a gift); catechumens, converts, cradle, scholars, artists, monks, etc.  The congregation is diverse. There is also a youtube channel with regular live streaming services.  The main church and the smaller chapel in the back are very beautiful. Services are beautiful. If you are planning an Orthodox wedding or baptism, our family has had great experiences for both. Father Nazari performed the marriage ceremony for my brother-in-law and his wife and the baptism of their baby, and even non-Orthodox were especially moved by the services.  My family appreciates how he is not only approachable, but even with his extremely busy schedule, he always has a kind word or two for everyone, makes himself accessible, whether for sacraments, pastoral visits, a note of encouragement, etc.  God bless Father and his wonderful Matushka.
