Unfortunately, the worst prenatal care I've received. When I had my firstborn in 2007, I went to a free clinic through medi-cal. Although my prenatal care was excellent, I was in a better place financially now and decided to pay for Kaiser insurance when I became pregnant in 2021, so I could receive "top" prenatal care. Boy, was I wrong. My visits were always very short, my concerns always brushed off as "typical pregnancy symptoms", and each visit was mainly about my obgyn, Dr. Deborah Arden, pressuring me to get the covid vaccine. Her notes after each visit always made me feel like she was accusing me of being neglectful. They then canceled my last 3 appointments, including the one scheduled the day after my due date. I was in so much pain and unable to be seen, I ended up inducing at home 3 days past my due date. I'm now 25 weeks pregnant & the prenatal care has gotten worse. I started off as pre-diabetic and at risk for pre-eclampsia. Neither of these topics have been brought up again, so I don't know what my current status is. I got covid and there hasn't been a follow-up. Before I became pregnant, I began having very bad hip and back pain. Turns out, I have sciatica pain due to uneven hips, and back pain from all the pressure of heavy lifting at work, while my ligaments are still soft. I've seen a physical therapist twice, only to be told I should see a chiropractor because aside from recommending exercises to do at home, there's nothing they can do. I have missed so much work due to my back pain, I have fallen behind on rent and at risk of eviction. When I asked to go on maternity leave because my pain is causing me to miss so much work, I was told I need to consistently see a physical therapist to show "nothing is helping improve my situation". Also, I finally saw my assigned obgyn at 22 weeks, only for her to go in and put real quick because she was in the middle of a meeting. I could keep going on listing the ways they've shown me I do not matter, but you get the point. At 25 weeks pregnant, I'm now searching for a free clinic to continue my prenatal care because I refuse to keep paying nearly $300 a paycheck for terrible prenatal care at Kaiser. Thanks Kaiser, for letting me fall into deep depression during what should've been the happiest days of my life.
