This is not just a gym, it's a family. You feel welcomed and part of group. A community of people working on learning and advancing their skills while also being open to helping you grow as well. I'm really fortunate to have build a strong connection to many of my training partners and I value Tim Peterson's attentiveness & car of his students.

After two years with the Robot family, this is definitely a long due review. There are so many positive things about this place that I will try to organize them the best I can: 1) The level of detail in each class is insane. At first, this actually threw me off as I came from a gym where you “learn” something new pretty much every day. After two years of training under coach Tim, I now realize the importance of really digesting each technique over longer periods. At Robot, you will review the same move for weeks at the time, which allows you to polish small details that you would never think of if you were to drill a technique only a couple of times a week. By the time you finish covering that specific material, you have a real grasp of what you are supposed to do. 2) All coaches, staff, and gym partners try to make you feel welcomed and part of the community. At other gyms, I remember feeling that people only cared about collecting my membership fees. At Robot, coaches and staff will greet you by name from day one… and they will never forget it (for real!). I think this speaks to the type of gym culture that Robot tries to cultivate. This is also reflected in your gym mates’ behavior, as they are always willing to help. Big egos/unpleasant people are very rare (if there’s any) at this place. 3) Robot is a no-bs gym, period. You don’t have to buy an expensive gi with the gym logo. There’s no need to follow strict mat etiquette. You don’t have to pay for belt promotions or anything like that. It’s just so refreshing to find a chill place like this. 4) Gym owners understand that things happen in life and that you may not be able to train for some time. I have been able to put my membership on hold when I was abroad for some months. After recently having a knee injury that needed surgery, I was able to put a new hold. No extra fees, no questions asked. Having this peace of mind is great! In short, this is an amazing place to train!

I've been training BJJ for 16 years, traveled quite a bit and have been to dozens of academies in the US, Brazil, Thailand and Australia... I'm a black belt and consider myself to be quite on the technical and cerebral side of JJ. OR AT LEAST... I THOUGHT I was... and then I went to Tim Peterson's BJJ classes, and realized how much deeper than I thought the rabbit hole goes. This guy is on another, out-of-this-world level of understanding of body mechanics. Add to that: Super friendly and non formal environment Many high level students (often 3+ black belts in class) Super female friendly, with strong female competitors Superb hygiene and great showers Perfect score all around!!!

We brought our entire u12 team to engage in a Championship Mindset training session with coach Tim. 11 out of our 12 member team had never tried Jiujitsu before. Tim took their intrepidation and turned it into possitive, fun energy and through the course of the lesson our team learned some profound lessons about what it means to compete and and be a competitor. We can not say enough about our experience. Epic!
