Kumon Math and Reading Center West LA is a very nice place for studing but bad with teachers, When coming to achievement tests, They become very suspicious and treat you like the third degree.

Kumon West LA gets a 0 for customer service. They are very rigid to the point where you wonder if they have any common sense. The traffic is very bad in West LA and our goal is to get in and out quickly. When they are open, they schedule your children to attend in 30 minute slots. Even after they're already open, if you come 10 minutes before your scheduled time to their center, the center can be completely empty with all the instructors there and almost no kids sitting there, but they will not allow you to start early. Really all the kids are doing, is sitting there and doing their assigned worksheets. There is minimal interaction with the teachers for most of the 30 minutes. We're there anyway, so if we can start early, we can leave early. They are very unaccommodating, however.
In addition, if you go on vacation, have doctor's appointments/special events that come up, or sports games, they are not accommodating about helping you reschedule the make up session. Sanami Matsumoto, the office administrator, is very unfriendly and will not work with you. Even if you know your schedule ahead of time, she will not let you reschedule your Kumon day until 1 week beforehand. If you stand at the desk with a scheduling issue, she will ask you to email instead. However, they do *not* answer emails regularly, so it really is a no-win situation. They are very stressful to deal with.
One thing they are good about, however, is making sure that your tuition is paid on time and they always raise the tuition price yearly. Whether or not you can make it to the Kumon Center for your weekly sessions, however, they really care less about. If you need to miss a weekly session, they are quick to say that you can just take the assignments home and do them yourself, without coming to the center. As you can imagine, for the expensive price they charge, that ends up becoming a very expensive workbook that you are buying from them, if you can't manage to reschedule to come into the center for all the times you have paid for. All in all, they are just so stressful to deal with.
I do like the Kumon method and the owners and tutors are very good teachers. However, this particular center's policies and rigidness do not work well for busy families.
