Jay is the key contributor to my success in passing the California bar exam on my first try while still working full time. As a foreign-trained attorney, it was hard to find a course suited to all my needs. After a year of multiple interviews with various tutors, I decided to go with Jay. It was the best decision I made on my journey to being admitted to practice law in California. Jay takes time to walk you through all the technicalities and specifics of the exam. It is apart from him being the most knowledgeable person in the law. He will push you beyond your limits and never let you give up or fall behind. Last but not least, Jay puts work into the tremendous mental preparation required to pass this exam. He gives you the confidence that is necessary to succeed. Jay will be your tutor, mentor, life coach, and a good friend throughout the process. Thank you, Jay, for being the greatest!

I had failed the bar previously when i found Jay. Jay is family as far as I am concerned. Don't waste your time and money with other prep IMO. Jay's approach is so much better and specific. You are a real person to Jay and he actually cares if you pass. If you work hard and do what he says it will come i promise. Do the work and be patient. Invest in your future and get with someone who will get you over the hump. How much is that worth? To me alot and Jay didn't charge anywhere near would I would have paid to pass.

Jay is brilliant. No one knows the Bar better. If you do what he says, you'll pass the California Bar.

I passed the Bar in large part due to the method used by Jay Chavkin. He was patient, and after providing black letter law, he was able to make the law plain. He used a myriad of examples and real world experiences to describe and make a personal application of the law to everyday life. He also held me accountable as he always asked, "ok, do you really understand...". I have ADHD and asked questions regularly; Jay answered each and every question patiently. He believed in me, and told me this often. I am so grateful ...A gad zillion thanks!

I am going to write the review I wish we had read before we hired Jay.My husband had failed the bar exam 3 times and only had one chance left before his provisional license expired. When he spoke with Jay initially, he felt encouraged, especially when Jay related that most of his students pass- and that most who do not pass speak English as a second language.Between this claim and the 5-star Yelp reviews with anecdotal evidence of miraculous outcomes, we felt reasonably confident that my husband would pass on his fourth attempt given how close he had come in the past. (On his second attempt, he failed by a single point, and the time before, only missed it by 5 points.)What we should have requested (and what should have been proactively shared) in the initial conversation was hard data on the exact percentage of Jay's students who pass the bar exam. This data likely would have given us a more accurate expectation. My husband enjoyed working with Jay, but despite working as hard as he possibly could have worked, he did not pass his fourth attempt. Not only that, he got a slightly lower score than on two previous attempts. We appreciate Jay's help and have nothing bad to say about his services. But prospective leads should understand that it's entirely possible that you will spend $4k on private tutoring, work as hard as you can, and still fail - and not only if English is your second language. English is my husband's primary language, he has a decade of experience as a working paralegal and a law degree, and he did reasonably well in law school - yet he is now $4k poorer, with triple-figure law school debt, and still be unable to practice law in California. I don't blame Jay for our disappointing result. Life's always a gamble- but it would be helpful to have accurate and transparent data at the outset with which to calculate the risks.
