I’m sorry to report that Sun Hai Inn is closed, a victim of the Covid hysteria. Personally, I blame the WHO and UN in general for lying to the world. Previous review: We've eaten here a few times and it's now our favorite Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles--not because it's better than Yang Chow (which is superb, and this place is just as good), but because it costs 1/3 less than Yang Chow. It's not a romantic atmosphere like Yang Chow and you're unlikely to see celebrities here, but who the hell cares? Aren't you out for good Chinese food? Well, here it is. My favorites include the three flavors kung pao, the hot and sour soup (the sizzling rice soup is just as good), paper wrapped chicken (almost impossible to find anywhere else), the shrimp in oyster sauce and, of course, the house fried rice, which is as good as rice gets. Everything we've tried was delicious. Come early; the place fills up most nights. Better yet, place your order to go or have it delivered. Sun Hai's food is great, but it's not remotely a romantic place for a date.
