Love their brisket and beef ribs! My mom, a bbq aficionado, loves Slab too. We pass on the side dishes.

Used to be great until they became a pseudo franchise. Owner mia and employees don't really care.

I will acknowledge that I expected a lot from Slab. The chef has a great reputation as does the restaurant. That being said, my whole party of 4 was disappointed. We've taken trips to Austin just to eat BBQ, so it's not as if there is no point of reference to compare. I ordered the combo with brisket and a half bbq chicken, along with potato salad and their collard greens. The brisket tasted good but was dry, and my friend said the same about the ribs. The chicken was moist and flavorful, but was pretty fatty. The sides were very good, and although one of my friends thought the potato salad was a bit salty, I liked it a lot. The greens had great seasoning and bits of brisket mixed in which took the flavor up a notch. They were out of corn bread or I would have ordered that too. Overall, simple menu (which I liked), but make sure to look around to see specials not listed on their menu board.

Dear BBQ lovers,I recently revisited SLAB, and while there were some highlights, there were also some disappointments. Let me start by saying that the brisket was definitely a standout - it had a great flavor and was cooked to perfection. I also tried the brisket tacos, which were delicious and definitely worth trying. However, I have to mention that shortly after eating the brisket, I had to run to the bathroom, which is unusual for me as I never have stomach issues!! While I enjoyed the taste of the brisket, this experience did detract from my overall enjoyment of the meal.I also ordered the OOOH sandwich, which I have had before and loved, but this time it fell short of my expectations. The bun was different than what I had previously experienced and dry, also the sandwich had less meat than before. While it was still good, it was not as good as my previous experiences.Overall, I had a mixed experience at SLAB. While the brisket and brisket tacos were definitely worth trying, the OOOH sandwich was a bit of a letdown this time around, and the stomach issue I experienced after eating the brisket was also very concerning.I still think it is worth giving a try, as the barbecue is definitely a highlight. However, I would advise being cautious if you have a sensitive stomach, and maybe try some of the other menu items in addition to the OOOH.
