image We came from San Diego to stay in this hotel and when my wife checked in the front desk named Dylan was extremely rude during the check in process and had poor pathetic customer service and apparently hates her job, then the room we entered was completely not clean and had stains on walls carpet was dirty and walls werent clean, already a bad experience upon arriving, then parking was a nightmare and told valet was $45 a day when on there site said $35 a day in which we told valet about and had attitudes from Ryan at valet , I grew up in OC and never expect douche bag people in my entire life in OC , then the manager Jeroen Quint yelled at my wife when my wife was explaining the poor customer service we received from valet and Dylan at front desk and acted as if my wife was in the wrong, when she clearly wasnt and being a manager I expected better customer service by Jeroen Quint as a manager, with poor etiquette and poor manners and poor customer service, should not be a manager for a hotel as well incompetent in his job , it showed by his poor lack of customer service and they checked us out without our consent per my wife was complaining about the worst customer service from this do called hotel, I have notified the boards as well as my father who is the mayor of Orange County and Jeroen Quint will be getting a call as well consequences for his lack of management.

image Staff is great but this room is absolutely terrible. I'm laying in bed excited that the AC is broke and sounds like a microwave because its muffling the paper thin walls. The room is nothing like the pics. I can't get over how bad this place is..... Counting down the hours till I get to go home lol!!

image Excellent location! Charge extra $50 for check in early at 10:30am Friday. No Microwave oven, if needed a Microwave oven extra charge $35/ day. But they have gas Stove and Coffee Machine for free in your room . Room needed to be updated. However Room is clean. Room have No sound proof insulation done and so you can hear next or adjacent room TV noise at night.

image Very bad experience here detailed below that we firmly expect violates at least three state laws in California. If anyone else has similar problems, I encourage you also to do one of the following:
1) you can contact the California Attorney General, Rob Bontas office.
2) you can contact the non-profit consumer protection group Travelers United. (they seem to have great legal clout even over much lesser issues).
3) File a credit card dispute.
4) Contact California Consumer Affairs
State laws we found applicable: California Unfair Competition Law (UCL), the California False Advertising Law (FAL) (False Claims Law), and the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA).
We leave many more good reviews than bad reviews (most are on Google) so we are pretty easy to please but Pacific Edge Hotel had deceptive marketing at least through 3rd party listing sites such as VRBO. Felt like a pretty solid bait and switch. They hooked us (and apparently others staying here from discussions we had with other guests) into non-refundable bookings, claimed they had no control of their representatives/listing agents, claimed they didnt care about reviews, didnt act like they cared at all to look into the details of our concern (it came across like this problem happens a lot), and forced us into a pretty rough room facing the alley upon check-in that didnt match what the listing agent conveyed (since the reservation was now non-refundable we were cornered) unless we wanted to pay much extra for a room similar to what is depicted in photos when, per their website, that same room (and even an ocean front one no less) was showing to cost less than we paid for the rough room facing the alley (but costs more than the difference they were requesting from us for upgrade if that makes sense, so it wasnt an option just to cut our losses and go through their website). That made it feel even more like a planned bait and switch technique (on top of their claim that they have no control over their third party listing agents, and expressed no desire to dig into the facts). Just a heads up The room facing the alley also has very thin walls according to multiple other guests we have spoken with, and they only have valet parking but didnt disclose that, no free parking on-site or within at least a block (you may be able to find street parking if you drive out a few blocks across the main street but parking is very tight and it was even the light/off-season). Many of the rooms have NO elevator access, only stair access. Id hate for someone elderly to have this same issue. This is a compound of older hotels that share a lobby located in one of them in case that is not clear on their listing.
Update: Jeroen the manager did not want to hear any details of our complaint while we were at the front desk, he/she would not step out from behind the wall of his/her office, and in no way did he/she reach out to us afterwards to correct the problem as of yet. I will update my review if this ever happens. The public replies from Jeroen dont carry much weight when the amount of care seen in person was zero. This conveys an extremely poor level of professionalism and care for the long term outlook of this business.
And when you are aiming to enjoy a hard earned vacation, this is definitely not the chance you want to take. Apparently they dont feel like any of this is fraud and/or in violation of Californias consumer protection laws that could carry legal consequences.
Thankfully everyone else we have encountered in Laguna Beach have more than made up for the poor management practices seen here.

image Where do I even begin? This hotel is a masterpiece in disappointment. The photos online must have been taken in a parallel universe where cleanliness and honesty are valued. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a room that looked like it had been decorated by a hoarder with a penchant for 1970s motel chic.
The bed was a relic from the stone age, complete with lumpy mattresses that seemed to have a vendetta against anyone trying to get a good night's sleep. The sheets were so scratchy they could double as sandpaper. And don't even get me started on the mysterious stains that adorned every surface.
The bathroom was a horror show. Mold and mildew had taken up permanent residence, and the shower curtain looked like it had survived a zombie apocalypse. I'm pretty sure I saw a family of cockroaches doing the cha-cha in the corner.
Overall, if you enjoy feeling like you've stepped into a low-budget horror movie set and appreciate being lied to about the quality of accommodations, this hotel is a must-avoid. Unless, of course, you're looking for material for your next comedy routine.
