I own a scion FRS, after getting some engine noise diagnosed at the dealer and second opinions at some independent shops turned out I had Rod bearing failure, after speaking with many shops they all wanted to swap a used engine for about 2,000 less then what the dealer was going to charge me, I was going to end up having the dealer do the work but when I took it back the price went up drastically I couldnt believe it, I definitely felt I was being taken advantage of, to make a long story short I ended up seeing a post on Instagram of an FRS engine being rebuilt so I saw they were local to me and sent them a dm, I spoke to a guy named Juan he explained to me what he does to these engines and after seeing his work on social media I felt very confident making my choice to have my car dropped off. I got it rebuilt for the same price as a used engine, it did take a little bit of time but I was expecting it since the dealer told me it would take two months, f and z garage got it done in about 3 weeks.
