My husband and I love taking family and friends there for the boarders style meal. The owner rings the bell and you sit family style at a long table with others who have come for the boarders meal. They bring bottles of red wine and course after course of food. We love to go on Wednesdays for the chicken, tongue and potato salad with shrimp which is to die for. You meet many interesting people... a lot of ranchers and farmers eat there. My husband has attended foot printer parties there since the 60's although not sure if foot printers are still around. If you are uppity and a snob don't go. This place if for friendly , down to earth people who like people.

I remember this place when it was owned by a French Basque man and they had the best food in town. That was in the 70's. Sure could not have changed much.

Just sit down and start eating. The food won't disappoint, especially for the price.

Evidently the Nov. 18th group decided that thay would inflict as much damage as they could. Wither or not their reviews were warranted is in question. The fact that they felt it necessary that all members of their disgruntled party give the Basque Hotel a bad rating is simply not fair. The average rating now shows as 2 stars after this skewing of the rating. We make it a point to stop here when we drive from Southern Calif. to our home in Northern Calif. In fact, we usually stay in Fresno just so we can dine at the Basque Hotel. We have been coming here for over 30 years and look to it as a friendly place for good basque food in an old world atmosphere. Not fancy by any means but just good traditional Basque cooking. You will never leave hungry. The frog legs are great as are the lamb chops smothered with garlic. We are expeienced Basque hounds and we have eaten in Basque places from Spain/France to Reno, Gardnerville, Chino, La Puente, Elko, et. The Basque Hotel is one of the best
