If I could rate them having a 0 star, then I would. They are so rude. Call to ask for the hours, & I couldn't hear to make sure if it was the right name for the place. Dude goes "if you don't know where your calling to then I don't want to talk to you". Who the heck says that.  Then I said I couldn't hear what you said in the beginning, so I repeat the name I'm looking for & all he says again rudely is " that's what I said in the beginning". Dumb ignorant "guy". Would never go there. Also their place is a disaster and dirty in the front. Have to go in thru the back door. plus I heard guy talks up a storm with you & takes sooo long checking your jewelry.

I actually stumbled upon this place while at Newpark Mall. They are right across from the mall next to McDonalds. I hadn't read any Yelp reviews yet so I had no idea what to expect. I had just a couple of tiny little nothing pieces of gold on me that I had hoped I could sell in the mall (no such luck)....so I thought what the hell. I walked in and there was this woman talking to this man who sat behind a bulletproof glass window and she was obviously pissed off. I couldn't hear what she was saying because my 12 year old wouldn't stop talking about all the HoverBoards the guy had for sale inside. It was like a pawnshop that had only brand new SmartBalance Boards in boxes for sale, and on display in the window...and there was like a couch and coffee table, and a Keurig to make yourself a cup of coffee. I wouldn't say it had a bad odor at all. It did have a smell, but I think that was from the Afghan Kabobs place right next door. Anyway...the woman ahead of me marched out all pissy (go home and get laid lady) and it was my turn. The guy behind the counter was pretty nice. I slipped my bits of jewelry underneath this tiny passthru in the glass window and he picked it up and looked through it with a Jewelers Loop, then he RUBBED it on this black stone thing and I was like "Whoa there, what are you doin? Don't mess it up".....and he said he was just testing it to see if it was Gold or not. He explained to the process very quickly to me as he dropped a few drops of stuff onto the glass stone that had this yellowish line across it after he scraped the ring across it.....He said it was an acid that would do something to the line if it was or wasn't gold. I can't remember exactly but it turns out there was different Karats of gold I had, a 10K and a 14K. The mens gold rope chain I had brought in which weighed like 30grams was found to be not real. He showed me how and explained that it was a very good imitation because it didn't stick to a magnet and it was stamped 14K and everything....but it apparently failed the black stone/acid test...so he gave it back to me in the passthru slot....so now he only had like 2 or 3 skinny banded bent up rings that didn't even fit my daughter....no stones, etc. And he asked if I wanted to sell those and asked how much and dude tells me $102!!  I was like...HELL YES!!  I only brought those measley nothing rings just in case the big chain was worth nothing I wouldn't feel like I wasted my time...I never expected to get that much for them. Fast forward to visit number 2. I came back with some more old gold rings I didn't ever wear. One was on the heavy side, but had several colored stones in it...the other one was gold and silver and the other one was teeny tiny solid gold baby ring I found. Also there was another thin band gold ring with a diamond the size of a pin prick....but this time before I came in there I did my homework. I studied the price of gold. I studied how gold is weighed, how it is tested and how much I should expect based on its weight and the markup for the buyer. One of the items I knew wasn't solid gold but I wanted to test him out. I have my own Jewelry loop and my own scale which weighs in grams, oz, troyoz., and dwt and karat. I knew how many grams of gold I had....but I didn't convert it to dwt weight. So when he weighed it in front of me he was using dwt. I was like "damn"....now what am I gonna do? I waited to hear his offer, hoping he wouldn't be lieing to me or trying to screw me over becasue I was gonna call him on it...I knew what I should be getting....or around how much anways.....HE WAS SPOT ON!!  He had converted the dwt weight into grams and bingo....he gave me $103 for the gold!  He also gave me back the ring I knew wasn't solid, and explained why. He even tested it further before he went any furtherAND He offered to remove every single stone for me from those rings including the teeny tiny diamond from that one ring telling me that he was going to just melt it and that he would give it back to me if I wanted...which it was THAT small that I was like 'Nahh"...So my rating for my experience is so good compared to these other ones and the thing is I don't doubt for a second these other reviews....I think the Washington location has a bad reputation for being sleezy because...well...it's sleezy as hell over there. Why didn't I give him 4 or 5 stars? Because he ONLY buys solid gold 24, 22, 18, 14, 10KG only. No silver, no gold plated, no gold filled, no platinum, no nothing...just gold....which is a bummer because I have a lot of these other metals I'd like to sell also. Also, he could maybe tidy up his displays a bit. His store isn't dirty or anything. He just has a lot of those Hover Boards and they sort of take up the whole front office it seems. It's just not "sightly" in a good way but I wasn't there to buy HoverBoards and he was such a nice nice guy. Kind of handsome and charming too....down to earth...and he's honest..

Ok. So let me tell you that I only went here because of all the terrible reviews. I went to the places that people said were GREAT!!! LOL I was only offered a portion of what I got here. The old man is cool AF! Kind of a dry raw sense of humor but means no harm! I got almost 2x what others were offering me for a ring that I paid $1200 for....and a lottery ticket! Yeah, he talks alot and yeah, if you don't have an open enough mind to understand dry humor than you'll probably be uncomfortable. ..but were goin to get $$$$ , RIGHT? You're gonna get more here. I left laughing and with more $ in my pocket than I expected! THE OLD MAN MADE MY DAY!  If you're scared of the neighborhood or the "hallway" .....track it back over to your own neighborhood...this is where we're from!
