To the Prospective Customer: My name in Dr. Jie Qi. I am a co-founder of a company that specializes in producing educational hardware. I first met AQS a bit over four years ago as part of my PhD program at the MIT Media Lab. I had a goal to combine the two very different disciplines of paper craft and electronics into a unique medium that could revolutionize technology education as part of my dissertation research. Making tools that combine these two disciplines while fitting within an academic research timeline and budget required the development of novel manufacturing processes and working with small to medium-sized factories. Scaling up this idea into a sustainable company required orchestrating and improving the capabilities of these factories into an agile, lean supply chain that continues to thrive to this day. Finding a contract manufacturer that can meet unusual needs like mine is a challenge. In many cases, if a service provider doesn’t have a process in-house, the project is changed to fit the limitations of the contract manufacturer. Rather than cutting the foot to fit a single shoe size, AQS’ prime-contractor service model is closer to a shoe store: a dedicated project management team will help to identify, qualify, and manage specialized factories that can meet specialized needs. Because of this, their catalogue of capabilities reaches beyond the four walls of their primary facilities – with physical presences in China, US, and Korea, their network of relationships can span the globe. As a graduate researcher with very little experience in manufacturing hardware, the team at AQS was extremely understanding and supportive in helping me navigating the manufacturing and logistics process for the first time. They are both extremely adept and experienced in production, as well as patient in working with new entrepreneurs to realize our ideas. The team at AQS is eager to help, you just need to bring a good attitude, the ability to precisely communicate specifications, and realistic objectives around schedule and cost. If you are looking for a contract manufacturing solution provider, I highly recommend trying out a quotation with AQS.

I don't probably choose AQS for large volume production - works good with smaller batch production and easy jobs. Unfortunately the AQS did a poor job with assembly of my PCBs last time that lead to a lot defects in the field. The LGA IC pads were poorly solders and the solder paste was dried out and the ICs kept coming off the PCB so easily. When the product fails as a result of component failure, not only we had to pay for the complete cost of the product (which is 10s of times more than the cost of manufacturing the PCB), but also RMA (return and replacement of the product), return shipping fees, and as well as poor customer experience and brand damage.

My board uses OMAP series CPU but it is part on part (PoP) process, That is memory needs to be assembled on top of CPU, just like the Beagle Boards. As I search for the shop, I found AQS whom claims to have experience in PoP process. I gave them a try for my proto-type boards. I was greeted by customer service and have toured factory. I gave the all the parts that they need. They quoted for me option of 3~5 days turn-around as the fast turn around. As I was in need of this boards in hurry, I choose 3 days turn-around. On the 4th day morning I got the boards and I was excited to power them up. All the boards got powered up at first try. I often do not get this boards powering up at first trial from other CM that I used before. AQS team is great. Thank you AQS Team.
