All I can say is it was awful speaking to the person who answer the phone for their "billing" department he would not answer in a professional manner, made it seem that I was wasting his time, yell at me, and then hung up on me, all because I sent to them a polite and professional letter with a copy of the bill and my EOB pointing out that their charges were in error and that I was happy to settle what I owed. Maybe there some hard times at the lab, or personal problems I get that, but I will ask my doctor's office any future work they do will not to be sent to Sinai Medical Laboratory, Inc.

11/12/19 Wow. This lab waited more than a year to call me to let me know I owed $50.00, and they wouldn't even leave a message. The only reason I called this seemingly random number back was because I looked them up online and thought they might be a different lab calling about a more recent test. Communication was all around awful. I get this lady on the phone, and she has no idea who I am. Looks up my name and my birthday and gets some random other name, so it seemed like they had the wrong number and that was that. Then she calls me back and starts yelling at me about this bill, and the way she was talking, she made it sound like this lab was actually my old doctor's office under a different name; I already paid them ages ago -- because they actually called and emailed me in a timely manner to let me know I owed them -- so I told her that. She gets upset and thinks I'm lying, but then we establish that they're the lab, not the doctor. Okay, that's fine. Just a misunderstanding. Then she starts demanding I pay right now over the phone, and I'm like, "hold up," she sounds fishy -- the fact that she couldn't even find my name in the system at first or know why they called or even establish that this is a laboratory clinic, not a doctor's office, her rudeness -- it's all a bunch of red flags. So I ask for an email or a physical letter (to be fair, I did have to update my physical address with them; supposedly they've been mailing me there, but since they haven't called or emailed me until today, over a year later, and they couldn't even be bothered to leave a voicemail saying who they are, I doubt it), and she just goes on and on about paying this bill and how if I don't, they're going to send it to collections. You know, I think I'd rather they send it to collections. After reading the other reviews on here, collections would probably be a little more legitimate and trustworthy. At one point, I literally had to say, "Yo, let me finish my sentence," because she was repeating herself so much about paying the bill right now over the phone, and I NEVER talk to customer service reps over the phone like that -- I've been a barista, I know how rude folks can get, and I don't want to be that person. But she was just mean and frankly, weird. Given her condescending attitude towards me asking for something for my records, I wouldn't be surprised if she's been stealing people's credit card info. Maybe she's just a really rude person, but honestly, suspicious af. Also, it's been an hour now, and despite her urgency and her insistence that she'll email me the bill right away because I really need to pay it, no email yet. Kinda wish I hadn't updated my physical home address and confirmed my email address with her and given her my birth date over the phone, because I'm pretty sure I'm about to get my identity stolen. Update 11/15/19 I got the invoice in the mail, and it turns out more than half of it is a $30 late fee. I called the office to talk to billing about it, and I get the same lady again. Her name is Ellie, and all she did was railroad me when I asked to speak to her boss. And then she tried to tell me she emailed me -- she didn't -- and I know she didn't because she wouldn't even try to verify my email address. She just kept trying to get me to pay over the phone. I read the other reviews on here and I'm pretty sure these late fees they like to tack on are just scams for them to make a little extra money. Oh, and don't forget the extra $5 ATM fee they want to charge for paying over the phone. Seems like they're having money problems. Probably because no one wants to pay them because Ellie sounds like a scam artist trying to get their credit card info. Honestly this could all be solved if they just trained her a little better and had her call or email patients like they originally requested. (I always ask my doctors' offices & the like to email me, not physically mail me. This is ridiculous.) *This is the same review I put on Yelp.

Normally I don’t leave bad reviews. But I’m sorry, this place deserves it. I had a $2.08 balance from 4 months ago. That’s not a typo. Two dollars and eight cents. This week I received my first bill and it had a late fee of $30 added. I called to let them know I just got the bill and will clear it up, but can you kindly remove the late fee? I figured it was an automated system that just added it. I mean who would intentionally charge a 15x late fee on $2.08? That’s got to be a misunderstanding, right?? Well I was wrong. I got a call from a lady named Ellie who said the owner ‘Mr Lavin is offering a one time discount of $10 if I pay today. In addition they will waive a $5 fee to take my credit card over the phone. I said - thanks but I just received your bill. That’s not fair. She insisted she has been sending me bills and leaving me messages on my phone. Well I haven’t any of them. Are you really gonna charge me this late fee over $2.08, I had no idea was owed? She threatened to call collections if I didn’t pay them $22.08 today. I felt like I was on an episode of PUNK’d and was looking for Ashton Kutcher to pop out and surprise me. Nope. No Ashton. It’s true. They felt the need to strong arm me over this. So I paid the $23 and will be leaving an accurate review of how I was treated by Ellie and Mr Lavin everywhere I can. Stay clear of these guys. If they are this shady with their billing, how can one trust their lab results.
