Not really impressed with Codemasters. If you are coming off recent coding classes this review is not for you. Peter reviews all the basics in detail. Sometimes painfully slow. At times I want to scream as he belabors the same points over and over. He lectures about how you must study and do the work, etc. If you’re a fifth grader and need that coaching more power to ya. He is a nice guy/instructor but he is very long winded and his lecturing has way too much fluff content for me. He is constantly storytelling and going off topic. Much time is wasted. Please get to the point.!! Between the 15 minute break, class ending 20 to 30 minutes early and his long stories you are really only getting maybe 1.5 hours of instruction if that. Peter touts that his class is interactive. However, your MIC is always muted so you cannot verbally ask questions. You have to type all your questions. More often than not he doesn’t even respond to your typed questions anyway. He does not encourage question asking or have a time set aside for question asking. This greatly limits the interaction which is probably what he wants. He seems to always be in a rush to end the class. Instead of ending the classes early it would be very helpful if he would unmute student microphones and allow an open forum of questions and dialogue. We would really learn more by everyone being able to hear and get answers to questions. He sets the web cast up so you cannot even see the other students’ questions. He often preaches about how important it is to use the coding manuals. So instead of using the manuals himself while teaching he digresses to online tools to look up codes. Really? Not knowing how to look up codes in the book is not going to help you taking the CCS. He obviously wants to really limit how much time he puts into this instruction so he is not all cracked up to how he describes the class. If you are weak in coding and haven’t taken any instruction I would maybe recommend this class. Purchase the books early and start doing the work because there is no way to complete all the assignments if you are actively employed. If you are working in the field or coming off a formal program or the like I would pass on this class and just buy CCS review books. It is just not worth it. Not impressed at all.
