I stumbled upon this library while searching for a safe place to pull over due to having a leak in my tire. The ladies here are so helpful and sweet! They definitely provided great hospitality. I was informed that this location is also a cooling station. Andrayah, and Adrianna are heaven sent! Thank you ladies for making my 2+ hour wait comfortable!

My parents have lived in Desert Center for approximately 8years now & purchased a home & moved to the Lake Tamarisk community about 3 years ago. My mother has always had a library card for this branch since shortly after moving to Desert Center & she reads alot, she always has, it is something she enjoys greatly & used to frequently visit the library but since the new management took over a couple months ago at this branch she goes very rarely now because the management & employees are rude, extremely unfriendly, and just make her feel very unwelcome. I do not live here all year but I do come & stay with my parents about 3 months twice a year, so I do spend almost half of every year here with my parents, mainly due to their health issues. During this last visit I needed to recieve a fax for an extremely important letter from my dads oncologist (who is located in Los Angeles, approx 5 hours away) so I telephoned the Lake Tamarisk branch & unfortunately I did not get the young ladies name when she answered the phone, I certainly wish I had after the unfriendly manner in which she spoke to me, she was extremely rude, & just completely unprofessional, certainly not what I would expect a librarian to be like. I explained who I was (because this is such a small community it would be hard to believe that she would not know who my mother is) but even if she didn't there was zero reasons for the way she treated & spoke to me during the short call, so this is how the entire call went, as I stated before I didnt not catch her name when she answered but I identified myself as the daughter of (gave my mother's name) she said "uh huh" & I proceeded to ask her if they had a fax machine in the library she said "uh huh" again, so I summarized that I needed to recieve an extremely important letter from my dads oncologist/cancer doctor through fax, & I asked could I recieve it there if I paid for the paper & a fee for the fax, she said " nope we don't do that" so I asked "dont do what?" She so flippantly said "we don't let people use the fax machine it is only for us", so I asked "only for who" she said for her & the employees of the library" I said " oh ok" to which she replied in a very sarcastic tone "sorry" so I did say to her " no I dont think you are" & she laughed so I just hung up. After the call I was able to get the wonderful woman who runs the post office to let me recieve the extremely important fax on the fax machine there at the post office, thank goodness for her kindness & professionalism because this fax was just that important. Oh & the fax was 1 page as well, so it was not a large amount of paper, ink or time taken to receive the fax. I was appalled, upset, and disheartened by the manner in which the young lady at the library handled this entire situation because this is such a very small community out here in Desert Center/Lake Tamarisk (population of approx 150 people total) I would have thought there could have been a little more professionalism and under the circumstances that I had explained to her about it being from my dads oncologist/cancer doctor, she could have shown some compassion even if she couldn't help me. After the call I went online to look up who I could call to report this whole thing too and I was surprised to find that it says online that the library offers services such as help with copies, fax services, internet or computer use, among the usual library services etc. That really made me even more angry about the whole conversation I had just had with the manager or employee I spoke too, so I definitely wanted everyone to know how the staff of Lake Tamarisk Library Branch treats the people in this small community & how unprofessional, rude, unfriendly & just down right terrible she acted & treated me during such a short phone call that now I totally understand why my mother chooses not to go to the library anymore, and I really hope that her bosses read this as well and do something about it ASAP!!

Love the library's events they do for the kids and the story time and Lego club! Great place to sit and relax and lets the kids read or do a fun craft supplied by the librarians! It's really a great place :)
