Cannons Seafood Grill - Restaurant

I was invited there for a Birthday party about 6:00 pm on a Saturday. my first impression was... why have I not been here in over 20 years when I just live 5 minutes from the restaurant which has a fabulous location overlooking the Dana Point Harbor and all the ocean you can see. well.. the place is older than Jesus and needs to be remodeled. for an iconic location it looked like morgue inside. later I found out they were in the process of demolishing the entire place and are going to build a hotel. Good for them. i am sure they will build a nice place and I will have a wonderful time there when its all built. For now its not worth another visit.

Most beautiful view in Dana Point Harbor. Fresh seafood, nice selection of seafood entries during Happy Hour 4pm-6:30pm. Spacious parking lot.

If you want a great view looking south over Dana Point or west out to the Pacific, this is the place to go. The food however was below par. Of the four items we ordered, only one, the $15 crispy calamari steak, hit the mark. The other three items including a $13 average sized bowl of lobster bisque were not good. Just didn’t taste right. Some of the seafood skewer vegetables were not cooked enough and one would expect for $35, they would be. The service was about average. A restaurant with such a great view as this one should be packed on a Friday night but there were plenty of vacant tables and I have no doubt it was because of the sub standard food and service. My suggestion; park in their lot or nearby for 5 mins and take in the view, then go elsewhere to eat.

Just was not there for me. To start off this place is outdated, even for being a rustic styled seaside restaurant. The steak I order was not cooked as asked. I was also disappointed to find that the king crab had cartilage inside. Although the waitress did an amazing job and the scenery was beautiful, it is simply not enough to bring me back.
