My son and I walked over from our hotel, arriving around 8PM. The atmosphere is dark, so dark we had to use our phones as flashlights to read the menus. The waiter spoke rapidly and quietly, so quietly I could barely hear him over the musician playing classic guitar and singing in Spanish. I got the carne asada tampiquena ($19), which I expected to be grilled and topped with chiles and very spicy, but instead it was a run-of-the-mill porterhouse, very much on the fatty side. The plate was dressed nicely, with the usual beans and rice, but also with pico de gallo salsa and a dollop of guacamole —two items I wasn't sure what to do with, served on this plate as if it were fajitas. I finally asked for flour tortillas (which the plate should have come with.) My son ordered tacos and tamales ($16). The tacos were good, he finished those first, and though he has a hearty appetite he couldn't finish the tamales. I tasted them myself: they were large, unwrapped, topped with a sparse drizzle of enchilada sauce, but they were mostly masa and extremely dry. The pork was tasty, but made inedible by the vast amounts of moisture-sucking masa. Perhaps the tamales had sat around too long somewhere, unattended. The food did arrive quickly, and we dug in immediately, but the sparse collection of patrons around us finished their meals and left. While we were still eating the staff began their clean-up duties in the large, slightly cavernous and underused main dining room. The guitarist packed up his equipment —no tip from me— and the staff chatted and hurried around clanking the dirty dishes off the tables and soon, unbelievably, one of the staff began running the vacuum cleaner at the far end of the room. This all around 9PM, when the "official" closing time of the restaurant was 10PM. Four hours later, back in the hotel room, I woke from a shallow sleep sweating and feeling nauseous, as if I were going to throw up. I drank some water and sat outside on the patio for a while, then went back to sleep. I can't say this was from the restaurant, but I do have (like my father used to say) a cast-iron stomach, and I rarely suffer from gastrointestinal disturbances. Anyway... I'll never go back to Casa De Salsa.

They forgot about my food and then got me a cold plate of enchiladas! It took 40 mins for them to get my dish and it was crappy. That dish alone cost me 13$! crazy expensive for crappy food! I could have gone to another mexican place and gotten 2 dishes in a couple more dollars or had nice 2 dishes at Sanamluang for the same price! Not at all worth it. Dont waste your money and time.
