It's an immaculate model plane airfield, and the club members are extremely helpful and patient helping new people in the hobby. Also, it is a beautiful area with an overview of the Castaic dam's lagoon and the surrounding forest. Early mornings are a great time to go to meet with members willing to teach and to view the local wildlife - deer, rabbits, birds, etc.

Members are nice, at least one was.. to my face.. mostly, but as for the field, it's in decent repair, I mean the grass is only waist high.. The runway is paved.. long ago. but even though it's an ama field, only members can fly.. NO EXCEPTIONS. Membership is $200/year I guess it's expensive to cut the grass, cuz there runway isn't in very good repair(that's a bit high if you include your mandatory ama membership) and you need to have a member (not just any member, there is one, singular, who is designated to test you) declare you are ok to fly there even after you get a membership.. not sure if your just learning how to fly... Can't take the test if your just learning how to fly, so not sure how that works.. kind of typical of Santa Clarita, over charging for a half rate service.
