I did not have the best time going to Sakura Spa. Parts of my experience were bad that I will not be counting against Sakura Spa: - I came in expecting a more deep tissue style massage, and I didn't get that. But that I feel may have just been due more to me not quite know what to expect. Google had told me they did massage therapy and deep tissue massage, but it seems they did not, and I still wanted to try it, if only to have a more informed opinion. - I will also admit the language barrier was a bit of an issue. - I arrive din time for my appointment and still had to wait ten extra minutes to get in, but I also understand they were understaffed, and I do not want to hold that against the parlor either. What I am factoring in to my 2 star rating: - I left more sore than I was when I came in, and had to take painkillers afterwards. My back hurt bad enough that I had to struggle to put my clothes back on. Part of the massage triggered my sciatica and did not really help relieve my existing tension. - There was a cockroach in the room, but I had already paid at that point and didn't want to be out $50. - When I told the massuse that part of my back hurt, she said "Pain is good," but then went much lighter. I tried to explain I wanted her to go a little harder, but I think that may have gotten lost. There were some points in the Spa's favor, that saved it from a 1 star review: - The atmosphere was very relaxing and calming. - They did manage to get rid of a little bit of the tension in my shoulder, if not quite as much as I wished. - The music, while repetitive, was just interesting enough to keep me from falling asleep, but relaxing enough it kept me calm. It reminded me of the music from an old Playstation game. I liked it. - The decorations were all aesthetically pleasing. - The woman I interacted with was very polite. - Scheduling an appointment was easy, and the staff called me back to fix the scheduling when they found out they had been double booked. I appreciate that level of concern. I hope there are some improvements in the future, and I would love to come back in a few months and give an amended review should I have a better experience. I feel this is not a case of a bad business, but rather a chance for a business to grow and learn.
