I'm disappointed with the fire wood quality this year. Last year's cord was of good quality. Most but not all pieces were dry 16-18" length cuts and split to reasonable sized chunks. In Contrast, this year about 10% of the wood was dry rotted, 70% was wet to the core, and 20% was dry. This wood was delivered in December and was stated to be dry and tarped through the rains. Also, this year many of the pieces were in the 20-24" range as well as too large a diameter. Granted, I never asked about length but generally most suppliers aim for 16-18". A neighbor had a similar low-quality batch so I'm not sure what changed between the years. The owner is a friendly guy but there was a break down in quality control this year. One star for this year's wood, 5 star for last year's wood yields a 3 star overall but I'm going to search for a new supplier for next season. Too disconcerting to have to steam the water out of your firewood using dry rotted pieces. Price was $400, I'm not sure why the heck another poster says he was quoted $125. I don't think Burke would mislead on price and wood hasn't been that price for 40+ years.

Burke takes pride in his work and it shows. We have him and his team service the grounds and trees around our Ben Lomond cabin because it gets a lot of debris from the foliage and trees.  Burke always keeps the cabin's grounds well maintained and looking great. He goes out of his way to make sure the property is always in good shape.  We live out of the area and need someone who we can trust to do quality work regularly and without supervison.....and Burke is our MAN! We highly recommend Burke/Conscious Clearing.

Our agreement was $125 for a cord of 16 aged oak and madrone delivered to our home in Santa Cruz. Burke said it would be delivered the following week. A week later I called. He said it would be delivered the following week. They dumped the wood (not aged) in the driveway on a drizzly day even though the eve of the roof is large and had plenty of space for the wood but instead left us with a torn up tarp that was ineffective in keeping the wood dry. The pieces were also much larger than 16". I've had to split the wood to get it to fit our fireplace and for it to burn as it is not aged. The worst part was when I got the bill after giving Burke my credit card number. He charged $400! I left a message asking for an explanation and didn't get a call back. The issue is in dispute with my credit card company.
