Michael Van Auken Photography

We have been worked with Michael for our company headshots for the last few years, and are always blown away by his work! We have also worked together on a handful of fun group photos for holiday cards, etc. Michael's studio is in Benicia's historic arsenal, which offers a variety of stunning architectural backdrops that add a beautiful & unique character to his photos. Michael is always professional, responsive, and easy to work with. He has a great presence behind the camera, and our employees always rave about how at-ease they feel during their headshot portrait sessions. He has a way of making each photoshoot fun and comfortable, even for those of us who don't typically enjoy having our photo taken. Michael took our wedding photos on 11/20/22 in Petaluma, CA. We are beyond grateful for his work & we love, love our photos. He did a really beautiful job capturing the love and the joy. Although my husband is photogenic, I am very camera shy - luckily Michael is pro with direction and has a good eye for candids, so we both had a lot of fun and the photos are stunning! He is very kind and professional and you could tell photography is his passion. We highly recommend! Here are just a few on my personal favorites :)

Michael is an incredible photographer. We have been having Michael photograph our family year after year. He has a great eye to get the best shots, gets real smiles (nothing forced) - Michael continues to capture the best moments of all of us and I feel blessed to have Michael capturing these amazing moments.

Michael did our wedding photography and it was the best decision we made. He was extremely helpful and incredibly talented. We had a lot of fun during the engagement photography session, and having those pictures helped us relax and feel more natural during the wedding. We felt great during the wedding, and it was relaxing to know Michael had the photography covered, so we didn't have to think about it. We've also received a large number of very positive comments from our guests about him! I don't know if that's normal or not for a wedding photographer, but people were extremely impressed with his professionalism, energy, and dedication to getting the shots and have been letting us know.
