Writing at the table during a quiet moment, I want to say how grateful I'm for yet another culinary option near to home. The combo appetizers are a satisfying selection of deep-fried shapes with two sauces. The spicy lemongrass chickyn has a taste that neither Hunnybunny nor I love. My leaden palette thinks "curry powder" or a similar flavor profile. Joey, our server and brother of the owner, noticed and graciously caused another dish to happen. The lemon chickyn, on the other hand, is fabulous: with both succulent & crispy bites. The sweet & sour chickyn is similar, with the traditional sauce. We tried both the brown and white rices; both just fine. We're looking forward to returning. (Yes, it's now closed :-/ )

I drop in every time I'm in Alameda. Some of the tastiest vegan food around. The owners are amazingly friendly to boot.

Wow the food here is so good!!! I loved every dish. Everything is vegan. Our kids even ate it all up! The service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant was clean and cozy, but not modern or expensive. Highly recommended for excellent, healthy, inexpensive, Asian fusion. Oh and we were served a complimentary piece of chocolate cake and it was to die for. Thank you, nice touch.

Nice hole in the wall spot. All service very courteous and fast, but not so busy either. The black bean sauce veggies (or any other veggie entree of your choice) $10 special goes all day and was very good. Came with a house salad and a choice of drink. The iced chai tea is tasty. All satisfying and hits the spot.

A simple, delightful restaurant. Not only is the food healthy and delicious, but the portions are quite ample. The menu options are extensive. This is a vegetarian restaurant in which substitutes for meat are used creatively. (Not all dishes use these substitutes, but some do.) I've had many different dishes here, and so far I have not been disappointed in any of them. I recommend any dish with eggplant. And when you're done, you can go right across the street to the Alameda Marketplace (a natural foods oriented indoor mini-mall) and browse the interesting shops there. I highly recommend Central Vegetarian.
