This dentist is lacking in cleanliness skills.  He uses a laptop for patient records keyboard is not covered and he goes from mouth to keyboard with the same gloved hand.  I work with computers all day and know keyboards have all kinds of places to hide germs.  Who know how many patients germs reside there.  He has the handle on the exam light covered but looks like it is the same cover for several days.Not Clean!  I now have a swollen gum and not sure I didn't get something from this dentist.

I've been to going to this same dental office since before Dr. Montiel took over.  I was pleasantly surprised at the updated equipment after Dr. Montiel took over.  On top of that when I needed a root canal and my insurance didn't cover all of it, Dr. Montiel took the initiative and talked to the specialist into a discount for me.  Thank goodness!

I have known Dr. Montiel for over 30 years.  He is a very nice guy who really tries to make his patients feel comfortable and feel like friends and family, not just like "patients".For most of those 30 years, in addition to his regular office, he has gone to nursing homes and provided dental care for people who were too disabled or elderly to get to a dental office, many times they could not even get out of bed.  Dr. Montiel developed mobile equipment and skills to be able to provide bedside care.  Many of these people had little money and he did not expect to get rich doing it. He continues providing this needed service in his evenings and weekends today.  He is a very conscientious guy who always tries to provide quality care.  I would recommend Dr. Montiel for your dental care.

Avoid this dentist at all cost!   I was new to Alameda and needed a cleaning, instead I got exposed to excessive amounts of xrays due to the fact that he couldnt get it right or just trying to rack up the dental bill.  I informed him that I had already had a xrays done about 2 months ago.  he would put the tools that I had in my mouth on my headrest everytime I had to sit up and when I had to put my head back down on the head rest, it was in my own saliva.   I didnt want to be rude.  He also touched the portable xray machine with the same gloves he put instruments in my mouth.  The xray had no protective coverings and put the xray machine back on the table.   He and the reception were the only ones working in the office.  He did everything.  A very sketchy dentist.  When doing my cleaning he bump his knee into my head and did not even apologize.  He was very rough with my cleaning and did not care about the excessive spit flying all over face.   I tried to give him a clue that it was bothering me but he didn't care and kept rushing the cleaning.  Worst cleaning and dentist visitI've had in my whole lifetime.   Please choose someone else.  Very unsanitary.  There are still dentist out there that care for their patients and not get into the profession for the money like Mr. Alaine Monteil.  I rarely write yelp reviews unless I feel like it really deserves one.   Please beware!If there are others out there that have had a bad experience, please post.
