Duane Shumaker has been doing my taxes & financial planning for many years now and he always does a great job. He helps me make the right decisions for my families financial future. What a major disappointment! Imagine calling a company for three weeks wanting to make an appointment for tax preparations for two families only to have them put you off, not return calls, and then tell you that you might want to go somewhere else--now that it's been three weeks! I started calling this tax preparation company the first week of March, 2016. They had prepared my dad's taxes in 2014, and I requested that they handle his taxes for 2015. And, I wanted them to handle my family's taxes as well. They couldn't find his file. I spoke with Karen at length, stating that I had their folder in front of me with their phone number and the file name. She insisted that it wasn't in their database. She took my number and said that someone would call me back. No one did. The following week, I called again, same response: Couldn't find the file. They said they'd call me back--again. This time it was Amy who assured me that I'd get a call. I did miss a call from someone named Diane, but she did not leave a message, nor did she try again later. The next week, I spoke with Mr. Wengren, owner of the company. He actually found the file after much searching and questioning of staff. He said someone would call me and set up an appointment. No one called. I called today and spoke with Karen again. She repeated: You're not in our database. I told her everything again. She started to vaguely remember that I seemed familiar, but she'd have to call me back--again. I told her how frustrating this has been, and that I hoped she'd call back today because it's now the 25th of March. She called back! However, she informed me that she was told that my dad had decided to go with another tax preparation company. Well, that was new!! Here's why: My dad is deceased. He was in hospice and unable to hear, or walk when they did his taxes last year, and then he passed away. I was handling his finances as Personal Representative. Someone had just decided to make up a story. After I repeated that this was an estate, that I was wanting them to do my dad's taxes as well as my family's taxes, she offered this: "Well, it's too late now to do your taxes. We're booked. If you want, you could drop off your papers, and we could file an extension. But...You might want to just go somewhere else. Not to sound mean, or anything." Wow. Just wow...
