Philip Magnuson cost us hundreds of dollars, hours wasted on hold with insurance and doctors offices and could have potentially cost us tens of thousands of dollars had billing staff not alerted us. My wife and I were going through a job change and needed help navigating the marketplace to secure insurance for my family. We were referred to Philip Magnuson and scheduled a call with him in May of 2021. From the first contact with Philip our primary concern was finding insurance to best cover a pregnancy we were planning for the summer. EVERY email and phone call mentioned this planned pregnancy, in fact I searched the words "pregnant" and "pregnancy" on just one email thread between us and found the word 14 times. Philip repeatedly led us to a triterm plan and after many very specific questions like "Are you sure this will cover pregnancy?" he assured us as long as the pregnancy occurred after coverage began we would be covered. We followed his guidance and signed up for the plan to begin coverage July 1. Just a few weeks later we found out my wife was pregnant and my wife scheduled an OBGYN appointment as well as an ultrasound appointment. As we checked into our appointments it was brought to our attention that our health insurance does NOT in fact cover pregnancy. We thought there had to be a mistake but after reaching out to Philip he confirmed that the plan did not cover pregnancy and offered no excuse for his incompetence. We had to pay out of pocket for both appointments ($600) and due to lag time between enrolling in a new plan and receiving a medical ID number we are now stuck in limbo unable to receive a referral from our PC for the pregnancy to see our OBGYN again. I'll say again, Philip cost us hundreds of dollars, hours wasted on hold with insurance and doctors offices and could have potentially cost us tens of thousands of dollars had billing staff not alerted us.
