Jet-Hot High Performance Coat

I had heard that, "Jet Hot," should be applied to headers to reduce engine compartment temperatures. I went to a local powder coating place (Andrews, Canoga Park). Andrews shipped my chromed headers out to Jet Hot Coatings and they were acid bathed and cleaned and then jet hot coated. I received them and they had an unusual but very pleasant look in the color I chose: silver. I had these on my Mustang for four years. Then the car was totaled. I retrieved the headers and placed them on the cleaning area, expecting four years of grime to be very difficult to clean. Was I in for a surprise. A few jets of water and all of the material just fell of the headers like it never really attached itself to them. No scrubbing; just wipe of the water. They looked like the day I received them four years earlier. Like brand new. No a peel or crack in the coating. During the time they were on the car, the engine compartment was cooler than before the coating and the headers remained cooler themselves. I coated only the outside of the pipes. One can coat the inside only, the outside only, or both sides of the pipes. This stuff is a miracle and if you can afford it, you should consider jet hot coating on all headers, even some motorcycle applications.
