Leslies having a Memorial Day Pool Perks sale on chlorine 35lbs for $154.99 + tax. before driving all the way up there I called ahead and told the guy I have a 10% off coupon that I got in another bucket of chlorine tabs and would he honor it with this sale? He said Oh yah, we'll take that, yup. So I got in the car, drove all the way up there burning $5.00 a gallon gasoline. When I got there the showed the guy my coupon and he says Oh no that wont work, let me try it, scans the coupon and hands it back to me and says No we cant take that, I told him I just spoke to you on the phone and you said you would take it. He says Well I thought you meant points. I asked him how do you translate that I have a 10% off coupon from a previous bucket of chlorine tablets to points in your system? Not with it at all. another poor experience at Leslies

I purchased a Hayward Tri-Star variable speed pump from Leslie's at this location and it was installed in late March 2014. It lasted until August 2018 and it was nearly $2000. The tech from Leslie's who did the installation disconnected the Ozone Generator stating it was for a spa and not a pool even though the manufacturer of the Ozone Generator said it was the perfect size for my 13,300 gallon pool. The tech also shortened the line from the pool into the pump to less than 12 inches which is not advised per the manual. He then scribbled in chicken scratch all over the manual. What's worse is the controller had already been redesigned 3 times by Hayward and Leslie's knowingly installed a Tri-Star pump that had been recalled and not recommended for sale as it was going to be problematic. Yes, I got 3 years out of it but it was not enough time to recoup the high cost of the pump. The tech should have at least hooked up the ozone generator. The problem is that previous pumps used an electro-mechanical timer just like the Ozone Generator and this Tri-Star variable speed pump had its own built in timer. You don't want to run the ozone generator when the pump is not on, so every time power goes out, one must make sure both the electro-mechanical timer and the pumps timer are in sync. Apparently this was just too much for Leslie's tech to comprehend.Leslie's offers a service to test your water. And invariably you'll need chemicals and they are very keen on selling shock, algaecide, and chlorine. The problem is I took the same sample to 3 different Leslie's stores in the area and got 3 different results, so who to believe? About the best thing you can do is to educate yourself. Google troublefreepools and learn that you only need liquid chlorine and acid once you have a Cyanuric acid level between 30 and 50 ppm. If you keep using tablets in chlorine they include cyanuric acid and once your levels head north of 50 ppm and approach 75 to 100 ppm you'll need to add a tone of chlorine on a daily basis or partially/fully drain your pool to reduce the amount of cyanuric acid. Now Leslie's can even sell you a tablet that runs about $75 per 10,000 gallons. They sell you tablets chlorine which will cause you to drain your pool or buy 1 or more tablets to reduce the cyanuric acid. It's a scan designed to fleece you of your money.
