I used to be a teacher at PYMS and taught there for 3 + years. My boss did all kinds of sleazy scandalous business. Despite the good work of the teachers, they are absolutely underpaid for their job, and a lot of times students are double charged if they don't pay close attention. I have witnessed in several occasions my ex boss trying to charge students for what they already had paid. Disorganization, misrepresentation and shady business lurk in that school. The environment is dirty, carpets are filthy and some of my students weren't even allowed in the restroom for it was always dirty and smelly. In the lobby parents and students often complained of the overwhelminglyhot temperatures during Summer.
Also, I was being sponsored for an H1B work visa by that school at that time and again, my boss majorly messed up with my status by not paying me properly (always a much smaller salary than US Immigration required) and I had to leave the school with my status ruined. She never paid me on time and I had several of my pay checks bounced along with my other colleagues due to insufficient funds. She deducted dubious and unexplained fees from teachers payrolls every MONTH, raised tuition from students every couple of years and charged very expensive fees for concerts every year(about 3 times a year). She also liked asking parents for money donations of $100.00 every couple of years with the excuse the school is not doing well. If you want a decent and honest music education for your child, I strongly recommend, do NOT bring your child to PYMS.
