We wanted to make chicken teriyaki bowls at home, but we were out of Samurai Sam's sauce, which we usually keep in a bottle. Samurai Sam's was closed, so getting more at that time was not an option. Decent teriyaki sauce can not be obtained form a grocery store, they are all terrible. So, we decided to go to Kyoto Bowl, and just pick up some bowls and get some sauce to use later, as my girlfriend had gone to Kyoto Bowl many times in the past and enjoyed it. We went in fairly close to closing time and tried to order chicken teriyaki bowls. We were told they were out of white rice. I am uncertain how this place can not have rice, that's like Burger King running out of hamburgers. Ridiculous. So we decided to just purchase sauce and take it home to make our own, because we had rice at home. We arrived at home and my girlfriend cooked for us. When we were eating we both thought it tasted "off". My girlfriend checked the label and discovered that both of the sauce bottles we purchased were a year past their expiration dates. We threw them away and will make sure we never run out of Samurai Sam's sauce again. Also, if you want a teriyaki bowl, go to Samurai Sam's instead.

Food was bland. I had two items. The Chicken fried rice and orange chicken. The chicken fried rice tasted as if it were just white rice with chicken added. The orange chicken was OK, but felt like it was missing something. I guess the best thing about the food was that it wasn't greasy like most other chinese meals. In fact, It kinda felt like is a meal aimed at being a little healthier than others. I also enjoyed the restaurants ambiance. Very 1980's like. I'm sure that just a result of them never remodeling, but It's kinda nice to step back in time.

Stopped in for lunch and I fell in love with their spicy chicken teriyaki bowl. Their sushi rolls are nice and big. Staff is very courteous and friendly. I definitely will be going back in the near future. The place is old but the food is great.
