After several years, I canceled my auto policy with USAA today, I couldn't do it anymore. Every rep tells you something different, leaving you misinformed and frustrated. I was in an accident, Vehicle was deemed a total loss. Was told that I would have roll-over payments from my pathfinder until the remaining balance from that policy was payed off (even though the policy for that vehicle was to be canceled) in addition to making payments on a new truck. So basically I was going to be paying over $400 a month for several months for a canceled auto policy in addition to the cost of a new policy. That seemed off to me. So I called and spoke to a different rep. She responded "Ummm no, once you cancel a policy, you no longer owe a dime. It doesn't make sense to owe on a vehicle you wouldn't be driving, does it?" And I was like, "thats what I thought." So she literally canceled the payment for the pathfinder and I moved forward with the cancelation of that policy, then enrolled a new one for truck I bought. Fast forward 4 days. I started receiving emails for cancelation of my insurance, For the truck I JUST enrolled with them. So I give them a call "Oh its because you haven't made the payment that was due for your pathfinder. Even though your policy was canceled you still need to pay the remaining balance." Never have I ever had to do that. Didn't have to do that with gieco, when I switched from them to USAA. So today I switched to Allstate. Very happy with that decision. Called USAA, "oh well, even though you're canceling, you'll still have to pay for the time your truck was insured, with us." I bet you all $50.00 if I had the patience to sit on hold for another hour or 2, and spoke to a different representative, I would be told I don't owe anything. I was insured on this truck for 2 weeks. No one in my family had to do that when they canceled their policies. Nor did my friends. I know many people who have dropped USAA this year.. all with different experiences, but the same general issues. So much inconsistency in regard to their distribution of information. I just feel like I'm constantly being lied to and yanked around. Bummed because I was happy with their service even just a year ago.
