This is an amazing place to bring your loved one. They care for your loved one like they are part of their family! Who wouldn't want your loved one to be cared for like that. They are very attentive to your loved one"s needs and I love that it operates just like a home and not some type of facility! The owner, family and staff does an amazing job at making sure the care they give is with dignity and respect! You couldn't ask for a better place!

Ms. Tarlika Patel, her lovely family and the caring staff at AZ Shining Star took exceptional care of my mother for four years. The facility is set up perfectly for a “discriminating” senior. (My mother was the personification of persnickety - a bit ocd - but even she felt at home in this clean well-appointed environment.) This home is pretty and nicely designed with 10 individual bedrooms with private bathrooms. It is close to home - Scottsdale and in the Arcadia area of Phoenix.
In a previous facility, where mom went from an assisted living, to the hospital and then back to their “skilled care”; she was not attended to, fell, broke her pelvis and never walked on her own again. After she left the hospital and a rehab center, she stayed for two weeks at an expensive group home in Scottsdale, (the hospital social worker gave us the referral). when there she was never groomed and dressed which was very bothersome. What really got me was that they seemed uncomfortable having me or other family members “pop in”. Eventually I could see why. They left residents in their robes or PJ's inside their bedrooms all day.
We were grateful to find AZ Shining Star. During the years my mother lived at AZ Shining Star she was always extremely well groomed, clean, and dry (with no urinary infections which had plagued her for years before). Residents who were able sat together in the living room and at meals. When we were unable to transport mom to neighborhood doctors, Ms. Patel arranged excellent home health care. Hospice of the Valley eventually coordinated her "in home" care under their debility program; she was always comfortable. I could not have found a better place.
Everyone at the Arizona Shining Star is incredibly competent, caring and went out of their way to make the patients and their families feel cared for and at home...visitors were frequent and welcomed. My mom enjoyed the family atmosphere. It gave us peace of mind knowing she was safe; she often said, referencing this home that she was lucky to be there. It was the next best thing to 24/7 at home care, and was affordable.

My mother was a seven year resident at Arizona Shining Star until her recent passing at 102 years of age. During her lengthy stay she was always happy and well cared for by the Patel Family and the staff and she considered her room there her home. She never missed a meal and always enjoyed her afternoon snack from her "#2 son" Romeo. Everyone there went out of their way to make all the residents feel at home, birthdays were always a big deal with cake and balloons, and the holiday decorations inside and out were second to none. At the end of the day however, the most important thing are the special people who care for your loved one and Shining Star provided a safe and happy residence for my mother until the very end. Deep gratitude and thanks to everyone there.
