The True Test of Integrity!
While preparing our roof for a new application of foam, one of the installers made an unfortunate decision -- resulting in fairly extensive water damage from our first large monsoon rainstorm of the season! The water was literally pouring through our ceiling in multiple locations. My wife grabbed towels, buckets and trash cans while I poked drainage holes in the ceiling where the water seemed to be heaviest in order to minimize the damage.
Even though it was late at night, I called the owner of Paul's Roofing (Jeff Pierce) to let him know what was happening. He said he had no idea his crew had left an opening in our flat roof. He apologized profusely and offered to come right out and cover the hole, but I explained that the damage had already been done, and the rain would stop before he could get here. He said he would be out first thing in the morning. He arrived as promised (actually, a half hour early) and examined the water damage. He said he would take care of all repairs. He then got up on the roof and continued with the repair work prior to the arrival of his crew.
He did exactly as he promised, even covering the cost of the restoration company I had called to dry out the damaged areas (which we wanted in order to minimize the amount of drywall that would need to be torn out, replaced, textured and painted). The drywall company Jeff selected did an excellent job, and Jeff covered all costs for the repairs, including the extensive drying required upstairs, in the kitchen, and the garage ceiling.
I feel the true measure of a company and its owner is how they respond to adversity -- and Paul's Roofing passed this test with flying colors! Without hesitation, Jeff owned the problem and took care of the repairs.
