image Beautiful lodge and location, but a little creepy lodging with Bob in his home. He insisted on leaving the laundry room door open right off of the kitchen/dining area. A bit uncomfortable eating breakfast with the housekeeping staff running in and out while the machines are churning. The fishing trips are with local guides, at Bob's discretion. One day was great, one day stunk. I'd much rather book my own favorite guides and know who I'm getting.

image Stayed there with my dad for a few days. Needless to say it was the best place we stayed at during our trip. A little expensive but day trips bob plans for you are incredible and worth it. The guides he picks are also excellent. The hospitality is unlike anything I've ever seen. Bob is there to greet you in the morning at 2am(most of your activities are a ways away and start at about 4am). If i ever go back to Alaska I'm going there!

image We just had the vacation of a lifetime. The lodge is beautiful, location incredible and Bob is a delight.
We stayed at the lodge, "the cabin," the house Bob lives at. The back porch is about forty feet from the river. On the second day we happened upon caribou less than a mile from Bob's place. In short, it's a little piece of paradise. The lodge is gorgeous, huge and immaculate. It is a brand new building. Each day our beds were made and a few candies were left  in our room. We stayed on the second floor, our suite had a balcony. I think each of the bedrooms have a television and cable. The upstairs suite has a wonderful shower, two separate heads. All the comforts of a home I wish we could afford.
Bob is a great guy. He knows the area well, endlessly helpful during our stay. He has a great sense of humor. Always got up early to make sure breakfast and a fresh pot of coffee was ready when we woke up. He packs a darn good lunch, I mean better than the lunches my mom packed for me as a kid.
The fishing trips he setup for us were incredible. Never had so much luck fishing in my life. He doesn't just know good companies, he also picked specific guides for us. We fished for kings, took a seaplane to find some silvers and fished for halibut. In three days we caught 240 lbs of fish, 118 lbs of meat. Bob's crew packs it all and is shipping it to my door. Honestly, we didn't need to prepare a single fish, we focused only on the catching aspect on our adventures.
I mean it when I say we had the trip of a lifetime. The seaplane alone would have made this a stellar experience. Yet, that is only one small aspect of what made this trip special. Best part, I have plenty of fishing stories for my buddies, and I don't even need to lie about the size of the catch!

image Fantastic Alaskan Experience
The main lodge's deck looks out on green providing a tranquil setting while we relaxed after a long day of fishing. You have a small look of the Kenai River through the trees. Bob offers very comfortable accommodations and facilities that allowed use to bbq our catch of the day. The remainder of fish, from three fisherman, a total of almost 200 lbs of fish (King Salmon, Halibut, Sockeye and a few Dolly Var den) was prepared by Larry and Bob for a long trip to California.
Bob is organized and provided directions and times to meet our guides. He also provided large coolers to carry the fish back to our cabin. We very much enjoyed the guides selected by Bob.
We recommend doing a fly out to Crescent Lake. A beautiful turquoise lake. Although we saw no bears and it rained most of the day, fishing with Jake was perfect. He was with us every minute making sure we would "bend our rods" - catch fish. Which we did.
Eric, a 25 year old with the fastest boat on the Cook Inlet, we believe, works out of Reel 'Em Inn, Cook Inlet Charters. A strong dedicated young man whose only goal was to help his clients catch their limit of halibut. He was constantly checking the lines, the bait, the location of the boat - an exceptional individual. Ask for Eric at Reel 'Em Inn when Bob books your fishing trip for halibut. A young but very experienced and dedicated captain.
Big Dave fishing the Kasilof River for King Salmon was another exceptional experience. Bob told us he is the best on the Kasilof for King Salmon. After spending the day with him we are in total agreement. HIs knowledge of the river and where to find the Kings was remarkable.. At one time he rowed 25 minutes against the current to get to a fishing spot before any other guides. He also did not stop until all the three of us caught a king. Our recommendation - do not fish for Kings without Dave on the Kasilof River.
