A truly 1st class experience in an absolutely magnificent corner of the world. A perfect mix of information provided by attentive and knowledgeable crew and guides and being left alone to marvel at the grandeur of Glacier bay. The Sea Wolf is a beautiful old ship extremely comfortable and the perfect size for this. It's easy to go up on deck and spend time alone if that's what you prefer, but cosy enough for mealtimes to feel like a family dinner. The food on board is absolutely amazing and a true highlight of the trip. My advice if you are considering going on this trip is do it and do it soon, Glacier Bay most likely will not be the same in even a few years.

When you mention a cruise of a lifetime in Alaska, most people think of one of those 15 story floating casinos. But there are other options, options truely worth seeking out. And in life those that seek are often rewarded. The Seawolf is a timber vessel that carried us on our journey, 12 paying passengers and 5 crew. In 1941/2 life for the Seawolf started as a minesweeper and she has had many journeys since then. The Seawolf has a soul and a soul that is embodied in the captain, the engineer, the cook, the naturalist cum waiter and the deck hand. Conssesioned as one of the only commercial vessels to access the eastern arm of Glacier Bay, you are privileged to witness, what few see, walk bear trails, be confronted by glaciers. I’ve sailed on Cunards, and you can’t walk past the galley and say I feel like some peach meringue, tonight. A journey for the seekers Incredible!

This is a spectacular experience. Well informed guides, thoughtful routes, amazing fresh and healthy food preparation, and comfortable sleeping accommodations are just the beginning. Brown bear, Orcas, Humpbacks, Sea Otters, wolves, close up hikes/kayaks to glaciers, along with rich information about their lives and habitat. Glacier bay changes daily. The education and perspective we gained from traveling with educated and experienced guides who are passionate about the importance of getting the word out has influenced our personal decisions about conservation. You will not regret taking the time for this disappearing jewel. Hurry to get there, and then prepare to luxuriate in each breath of fresh air.

I had the amazing opportunity to adventure on board the Sea Wolf last May in Glacier Bay and it was most definitely THE TRIP of my lifetime! The Sea Wolf is a comfortable, beautifully maintained and restored wooden ship - rich with US Naval history. I was impressed with her handicap accessibility! Pictures adorn my wall of experiences had that now seem like a dream: kayaking a safe distance from the shoreline while viewing a pair of mating brown bears, dipping the tip of my kayak in a waterfall cascading down a rock face on our way to view a glacier, casting a plaster mold of perfect wolf prints found in the sand, paddling next to vertical tide pools rich with vibrant sea stars - not to mention paddling near the face of gorgeously blue tidewater glaciers, and viewing marmots bob in and out of dens. My friend and I loved our stateroom - we learned early in the trip to keep our door open at night to fall asleep to the sounds of whales blowing in the distance. If it seems to you that the crew of the Sea Wolf know Glacier Bay as if it were their own back yard - it's because it is! Owner Kimber calls Gustavus home and much of the crew work in the park every year. I am impressed with the Sea Wolf's commitment and involvement in local science education as Kimber has a history of donating trips to local school's science classrooms. She also actively works to bring awareness to environmental issues affecting Alaska's wilderness. Expert naturalists guide you throughout your day - pointing out every species of life viewed along the way and explaining the fascinatingly rich geological history of the area. The crew; from the captain to the chef to the naturalists to the deckhand to the engineer - demonstrated the utmost respect for the wilderness of the Bay and all the species that call the Bay home. I have never eaten so well for 6 consecutive days! Dungeness crab, wild Alaskan caught king salmon, halibut, scallops, fresh baked goodies, homemade granola, fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious salads are just a few of the more memorable meals -- the chef expertly worked with those on our trip with special dietary needs and food sensitivities. By the end of the trip the crew and other passengers felt more like family and I left knowing I'd make every effort to make it back to experience one of the other adventures the Sea Wolf has to offer!
