Lisa is the epitome of a caring human being. We have engaged countless times over the past several years. It didn't feel like typical therapy. It is it is a genuine caring connection to only you. Lisa doesn't tell you what to do, doesn't give you absolute direction, but what she does just works. She shows you that you already have the abilities inside your own self to make your life better, to be the best version of yourself. Big tough Army Guy that didn't need any help and I was in a hole. A deep one. No more, thanks to her. There is a light at the end, and she knows where it is and how to get you there. For my brothers that are struggling, please reach out to Empower. So thankful to have found her.

I was referred to Ms Howard for grief counseling by my primary physician after my wife passed away. During my initial visit it was clear that Ms Howard was disinterested in my situation and actually tried to refer me to someone else. She appeared quite disengaged during the session. The "micro-message" I received was that I was not welcome. I ended the one-hour session early and left. The visit was a waste of my time, money, and only served to upset me further through the reiteration of the situation around my wife's death. Thus far, the most comforting help I've received is from my 100lb husky. UPDATE: After posting this review, I received phone calls from both Ms Howard and the owner of Empower Behavioral Health profusely apologizing for what happened during my visit. While I understand their wanting to "make it right", I suspect their concern was more associated getting the problematic review off of this page. However, their apologies don't change the experience I had. UPDATE #1 2/22/21: I had friends and confidents tell me that that the pain of the loss of my beloved wife would occasionally spontaneously hit me hard in the future. Tonight has been one of those nights. The sadness is unbearable, I don't know if I can make it without her. I wish I had found someone that was willing to help me through the grief process and understand what to expect. I don't know what the future holds for me.

It's truly a gift to have a therapist who is an active participant in your healing. Lisa is wonderfully supportive and encouraging, with a calm, positive demeanor which is very grounding when dealing with traumatic situations. I definitely recommend this practice to anyone ready to start the healing process.
