It was great when Dr. Daughtery was there. I have hemochromatosis(iron overload) and he was very knowledgeable of the condition and how to treat it. Blood letting(donations) are the way to get rid of excess iron and requires more frequent letting than Lifesouth or Red Cross allow without doctor's orders. For some undisclosed reason Dr. Daughtery is not there now so I had to see another doctor last year at NWACC. Not only did he restrict how often I could give blood to once every 3 months(regular donations can be done every 55 days) by written orders but his office never got the orders to LifeSouth. Since them I've had to try and get an appointment with someone elsewhere. In the meantime my iron continues to climb. I managed to get an appointment for June 7th elsewhere(that took 2 months) but on June 1st I came down with symptoms of Covid and tested positive on the 4th. Had to postpone and they tell me it will be August before the next opening. Now I'm stuck living with the random debilitating cramps in my leg and foot that are always present when my ferritin(levels of iron stored in the body) is elevated. If you are considering this place for Hemochromatosis go somewhere else. PS- the other place I had an appointment with? They requested my records from NWACC and, from my understanding, still hadn't received them as of June 4th. How is that for competence?
