      About Derek WoessnerDerek A. Woessner, MD, FAAFP, specializes in sports medicine, concussion management and non-surgical orthopedics. He graduated cum laude from Berry College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry in Rome, GA, and he earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA. After medical school, he went to the Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, GA where he completed the family medicine residency program. Following Residency, Dr. Woessner was selected to serve as a special operations physician for the 3rd Ranger Battalion.

      image Dr. Woessner is by far, one of the best doctors I've seen. Yes, he is an orthopedic doctor, but he goes above and beyond the normal 10 minute exam you get everywhere else. He looks at your general health, not just the one problem you are there for. When my 13 year old daughter (with ASD2) sees him, he does a great job of making her less nervous by telling her silly jokes or playing rock, paper, scissors. etc. Occasionally our wait is a little longer, but I don't mind because he's probably like this with all of his patients, so it's worth the wait the few times we've had one. I Highly recommended him!
