What a fun place. The employees are extremely helpful and take great pride in their facility. They have awesome activities going on year round for both the residents and their families- attended bougie bag bingo and had a terrific time.

Southern Pines (SP) has been a Godsend. My mother (92), diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, was to be discharged from the hospital with Hospice to serve her. We needed a suitable place for her to be cared for. Many of the nursing homes in our area were at capacity. Xandria, the social worker at Archbold Memorial Hospital contacted Tara LaBel at Southern Pines, and she came to visit us at the hospital. Tara worked tirelessly to figure out several obstacles in getting my mother admitted to Southern Pines. My mother's room is beautiful; it overlooks a courtyard with flowers and bird feeders, etc. She feels cared for and peaceful. The first week at any facility takes careful attention to details. Meals were an issue at first; however, the kitchen staff has worked to provide a variety of food options for my mother's required liquid/soft diet. Georgia Hospice has been wonderful to my mother and to us. The resident assistants (RAs) work around the clock in three shifts. Each shift checks on my mother at least twice; they call it "face-to-face" checks. With my mother's limitations, RAs change my mother's diaper and clean her. We have been very pleased with the morning and days shifts. We have had issues with night shift, but their performance has improved over the last two weeks. I have a recommendation that the RAs be provided with training on basic bed-changing skills, etc. after being hired. Another recommendation would be to have a supervising staff member on every shift who would evaluate a new employee's performance. Southern Pines does very well as they work to find people willing to work and fill needed vacancies. I highly recommend Southern Pines to families looking for a beautiful, clean, inspiring place to place their loved ones.

My mother and father-in-law are residents of Southern Pines. Lovely living Apartment. Many of the staff have room for improvement, especially night shift where majority of our complaints lie. Initially, my father-in-law would say he pushes the button 5-10 mins apart with no response more than 30 minutes. After family members speaking calm with staff about please responding, assurance given. Still, in-laws, numerous times, pushed the button for assistance and more than not, end up having to call family members that will be there 15 to 30 minutes later to assist just as or before the employees even help & Now they're locking the door and at night when the parents call there's no one to get in touch with to be able to get in to assist your parents. This is beyond sad & to make aware to management and the director, it continues to happen. My father-in-law fell a few months ago and went into the hospital because of the injury never to return & has since passed. Now my mother-in-law has fallen as again tonight and my sister-in-law was called by my mother-in-law because she could not get anyone to answer at midnight and now when sis in-law arrived, she couldn't get in. They are on the way to the hospital now with the EMTs assistance. This can't be isolated incident, is it the wing of this Thomasville facility? Need accountabilty. It is painful to see your loved ones treated like a 9-5 income. When my mother-in-law was asked at Thanksgiving how did she like living there, she hesitated & slow to say, "it's okay, I rather just do what they say", & seeing her facial response as if she wanted to say what she really thought. Just Sad!
