image Meh...Not really impressed with the care here if I'm honest. We've been seeing various doctors here since my son was born in June. Unfortunately, you don't get to spend a lot of time with the doctors who, overall, seem very rushed and have cursory answers to your questions. I have liked the doctors' demeanor when we've visited, but Swedish is a business that overbooks doctors so they have to rush from patient to patient, and, unfortunately, this makes it difficult to spend time with patients and thoughtfully answer questions.
The providers are also hit or miss. I like Dr. Kumasaka; he seems friendly. But we never really get a lot out of him to be honest. I've asked him questions about things like introducing solids, baby not sleeping through the night, etc. and answers are always subpar or very "traditional". For example, most experts would agree that introducing solids before 6 months is not a great idea if baby can't sit up on own (most 4 month olds don't), still have the extrusion reflex, etc., but Dr. K seems to think we should introduce solids at that age. (Insert eye roll emoji here!). Dr. Hawes doesn't really seem to enjoy infants but did at least spend some time looking things up a bit more thoroughly. We recently met with Dr. Madan...completely useless and a waste of time. Can't believe he is a doctor. WE were the ones who had to ask probing questions to assess what was wrong with our son.
I started taking my son to my own naturopath who spends an hour with him at each checkup and holistically assesses problems. She's all the way over in Kenmore which is a slog, but at least I know we're getting thorough care.
I keep WS Pediatrics on the list just in case something major comes up because they're close, but overall I'm never impressed when I go in.

image We have received excellent care when we are able to secure an appointment. However, scheduling and protocol with siblings feels impersonal and inflexible, which is frustrating when you have sick little ones that need care - hence the 3 star rating.

image Switched from Kaiser to Swedish and the service is amazing! Love Dr Hawes he is attentive, detailed and helpful. The staff there is great too and I highly recommend to get your kiddos to get their care here specially if you live in west Seattle and your insurance is supportive of Swedish!

image This review is a few years late and specifically directed at the offices "behavior specialist" - I realized recently how poorly we were treated, and how angry I still am about it(even three years later) and I needed to share it. (For the record I would give 5 stars for her pediatrician, we liked her)
When you try and talk to them about food related behavior issues, they send in the "behaviorist" to talk to you. I told this woman that my child had been displaying very aggressive behavior for months(she was almost 2 years old), and that I then removed gluten from her diet as someone randomly recommended I try doing- at that point I was willing to try anything- within two weeks I had a completely different and happy child on my hands. I told this woman that to be sure I knew what was going on with my daughter, I thought it would be good to get an allergy test. She simply smiled at me like she was talking to a child and said "well I'm not aware that gluten can cause behavioral issues, but here's a pamphlet for 'stop behaviors' so that you can handle her better." That's when I knew we were done, she clearly was not educated enough to know that food, gut health and behavior can all be related. Never in my life have I been so completely ignored even though I said point blank, a COMPLETELY different child when gluten was removed. I wanted to tell her where she could put her pamphlet, but instead, we left.
I took my child to an allergy specialist in Bellevue instead, and turns out my daughter is highly sensitive to several gluten strands, which can 100% effect her behavior(and did, because I am witness to it) as told to me by my daughters allergy specialist and her dietician.
