I have been so pleased with how Angela from horizon home builders have been there for my husband and I since day one. She has stayed on top of everything from start to finish. I am grateful to have met someone that is genuinely concerned about the customers and goes out of her way to make sure things are taken care of in a timely manner. Horizon has a true gem on their hands. I would recommend Horizon to my friends and family. I feel I got the best bang for my buck during times like these. I am honestly a bit disappointed in the construction and purchase of our first new home. As with a lot of builders, things look great and glitzy on the surface but underneath there are issues. Our home is nice but as the owner who lives there everyday I get to see the little details most folks would miss. The overall construction is decent but for the cost of the home I expected more. There appears to be very little in the way of supervision from the site supervisor during construction and no one comes in behind the sub-contractors to ensure things are done to a quality standard. The day of our closing we performed the pre-closing inspection and found the installer still working on the master bath shower. After closing when we had the keys we returned to the home to find him gone and the job left unfinished. The master bath glass shower was left incomplete where half the shower frame wasn't even in place. Nor was any caulking done to prevent leaks. Walls are bowed, the hardwood floor has low spots and is uneven (over a concrete slab??), and one of the second floor toilets was never installed with the wax seal (which we didn't discover until water started pouring out of the a/c vent in the living room downstairs). I get the impression that there is no oversight or management of the contractors as they work. As with many other reviews the warranty leaves very much to be desired. I don't know if that is Horizon themselves to blame or the 2-10 Warranty folks but we have been in the home for almost 9 months and still have open items on the 30-Day move in list. The warranty process is absolutely horrible. I am really not looking forward to having to submit the final 1-year list. If you are looking for a new home I would honestly tell you to look elsewhere unless you are buying a home that has already been lived in and someone else has had to manage all these issues. They build a nice home but it feels like once they have your money they are done with you. A new home is too large of an investment for a one-and-done transaction.
