Howe Furnace Company Inc.

After several frustrating interactions with companies on the approved home warranty list, I gave up and asked a friend and long-time SF resident and property owner for a recommendation. Enter Howe Furnace. A breath of fresh air. Returned my call quickly, showed up on time, was polite, and fees were very reasonable. I've had them out three times now to service my two furnaces and fix one of them. All perfectly satisfactory experiences. In fact, he didn't have the part to fix my motor so he took it home, sent his brother to pick up the part that day, and was back the next day with the repaired motor. Very satisfied customer.

I don't remember how I originally found Howe Furnace, but I've used them for duct work, thermostats, and now, a new furnace. As I sit here finally feeling warm again, I realize how much they deserve a five star yelp. Three days from furnace emergency (no heat) to diagnosis and complete installation, and they're always a pleasure to do business with.  They're reliable on prices and on not up selling me; I wish all the other businesses I deal with were as great as they are!!!

This is a small family buis. that's been around a long time.   They don't seem to have an office staff right now, as my calls went directly to a cell phone - and they kinda messed up our first scheduled time.  They did make the re-scheduled appointment however and did the work efficiently and for a very reasonable charge.  I won't hesitate to call them again when needed.

I've used this family run business three times over the past 12 years and each time was a smooth and painless experience. - The first time was a little over 12 years ago to replace the ancient gravity fed furnace that was in the house. I was a new homeowner and they took care of everything including coordination with the asbestos abatement service. I ended up with a high efficiency unit thanks to the Obama administration credits at the time. - I had a good enough experience with them that when I needed a new furnace for a rental unit in the area, I contacted Howe again. We went through my options and settled on a std efficiency unit for this unit. Incidentally, while everything is always more expensive in SF/CA, the pricing was in the same range for what I paid for a similar furnace for my MIL's place in CO in the same timeframe. - This is a family business and I've dealt with the same folks every time which is something I appreciate. My last interaction was earlier this year during a cold snap when one of my tenants noticed that his furnace was turning on but not actually blowing warm air. I ran through the diagnostics and realized that something was broken and I needed a professional. This wasn't even a unit that Howe had sold me (came with the building) but Darren found time for someone to come out quickly (its always hard to find an HVAC guy in a cold snap OR a roofer during rainy season), quickly fixed the issue (broken limit switch), and sent me a reasonable bill. I'm not in the business of needing HVAC folks on a regular basis but this is the one company I recommend to friends AND the first number I call if needed. Outstanding service. Appt in 3 days; arrived on time; through inspection of old floor furnace; removed heater element for 1st time in 100 years; thoroughly cleaned it. Highly recommend Howe Furnace!!!Charlie Vella
