Golden 1 Credit Union

Excellent Credit Union, I recommend this institution very highly. The staff is always so happy and helpful, and full smiles! Update they held a check for 3 days to ensure validly and so they clear it and then it some how bounces! Not happy with them now I dont recommend them!

I deeply regret moving to Golden1 already and it has been less than a month.  First they cancelled the appointment to open the account less than an hour before it, after i planned my day around it. Then that got resolved with an apology call and a new appointment. Next they held my deposit almost 2 weeks. No big thing but almost a month later when I brought a cashiers check from my local bank across the street for almost $100K they did it again telling me the account was less than a month old. All they had to do was call across the street to verify it. Worse the line was about 45 minutes long and there was just one teller. When I try to reconcile in Quicken there numbers may be off at 8am one day then work at noon, the next they may be right at 8am and off at 2pm.  I deeply regret moving to Golden1. I did this because the bank I go to has been sold and I don't wish to have an account with the bank that bought them.

Needed a money order for a deposit on a hotel in Kauai. I have thousands in my account and this credit union charges me a fee. WTF. I can understand if I had a few hundred bucks inmy account. Geez, nickle and dime their customers, greedy institution!  Glad I closed my account.

Although this was the first bad experience I've had with Golden 1 in my eight years of being a loyal customer, I do want to mention it because it was very inconvenient. I had an official document from the city that was stamped and everything. But management wouldn't accept it; merely because the employee from the County Clerk's office had applied whiteout on something I had written in cursive, and then had me write it in print right next to it. Furthermore, all the information matched perfectly with my business license, which is an even more official document. In her sheer rigidity, the manager refused to accept the perfectly valid document and they ended up closing my business checking account which I had spent a lot of time and energy to get opened. Now I have to go to Bank of America or another bank to open a business checking account and deal with having two different banks moving forward. They also refused to allow me to deposit checks that were addressed to my business name into my personal checking account, which would have been the easiest alternative. Her decision was quite unreasonable... And it was all over a little bit of white out that someone from the County Clerk's office had applied to the document.
