The UCSF child care centers have been taken over by Bright Horizons and the Lucia site now only serves children ages 3 months to two years (older children are at a new, separate site on Kirkham Street, also run by Bright Horizons). Our children attended when it was a UCSF-run center. Seeing this lovely institution transition to corporate child care was tragic. Our youngest was present for the preschool site's takeover and her care became so abysmal that we pulled her from the program.

I volunteered here for a few months and I loved every second of it. The staffs are friendly, and they really care for the kids. The place is organized along with a daily schedule. The kids learn while they interact in fun activities. Each and everyone of the kids are amazing. They are smarter than you think. I miss them all so much! I would recommend any parent to put their kids here because it will definitely be a great opportunity for them to learn and grow.

This is the place to teach yourkids to cope with a stressful and noisy environment. Although the people working there are mostly very lovely, they do not create a nice atmosphere for the kids.  I would not recommend this place due to the following reasons:-The kids don't get much attention and help during the meals, and without help the small kids often just eat their snack and skip the rest of the meal. -Although they have a lot of activities (looking good on paper) the way they do it is often so fast and stressful - it's a pity. E.g. when they have the very popular projects where two kids at the time get the chance to paint or glue stuff on a paper, they have so short time for each of them (2-5min) so instead of learning the kid to concentrate and enjoy a peaceful project time, they nag and stress them (and do half of the work for them) in order to get them to finish asap. Suprisingly the kids don't seem to bother too much about the constant, nagging and shouting from the teachers, and the noise in general.The good thing about this preschool was all the free play-time outside, but most of the teachers watch and correct the kids, rather than engage them in constructive activities & games.
