Had an excellent stay here. By far the best hotel experience I've had on my two-week trip across Southern California at a surprisingly low rate. The team at the front desk with Skip, Larah and Mark was extraordinarily helpful and friendly and really made me feel welcome. In had a suite with a living room, fully equipped kitchen living room and a separate bedroom. Everything was clean, comfortable and cozy. The entire hotel has a nice, consistent and tasteful style and really feels more like a four star than a three star hotel. Had an excellent stay here. Great place to stay: long-term or short-term! I was in San Diego for my son's college graduation that had been delayed 2 years due to the pandemic. I was driving from Las Vegas & needed to be at the UCSD stadium by 2:14 BUT check-in time wasn't until 4:00 PM. I called two days prior & the rep said: please call the morning of your arrival & we should be able to help you. I called at 7:00 am on the morning of & staff member said a 1:00 arrival shouldn't be a problem, BUT I arrived at 12:00... Well, Neomi at the front desk was very helpful & was able to get me in by 12:30. Because of the unusual circumstances of the graduation, there wasn't a lot of information on what the graduation situation was going to be, but Neomi (& her co-worker whose name I didn't get) were both very helpful & knowledgeable about how I should go about getting to the college stadium, the timing, etc., so I was able to get to where I needed to go without a hiccup. I really enjoyed my stay! The room was vary clean & very spacious. Everyone was very friendly & helpful. I felt very welcomed & the sense of community was really nice. I will definitely stay here again, next time I visit San Diego! Thanks to everyone at Sonesta ES Suites San Diego - Sorrento Mesa! Great place to stay: long-term or short-term! I had mixed experiences where some areas are good and some others not so good. Staff at the counter during morning and were attentive and in the evening it was horrible. I had to wait almost a day to get the missing iron and iron board. They didn't seem to even make an attempt to help out and I had to cancel my morning appointments because of that. The breakfast was good. They charge you for parking for a car as it's a 3 or 4 star as it's not even near a congested area. Total rip off on that. The room was decent and clean enough. The room rate was affordable hence I would say its not a bad deal. I had mixed experiences where some areas are good and some others not so good. The stay here was more like 2.7 stars. Pros: the suites are very spacious, fridge & small kitchenette stove w pots & pans, there is a breakfast buffet (not many hot foods), a gym, outdoor pool, laundry room, ample parking & a snack/toiletry room. Cons: This place seems a little shady. We booked online through their site (not a 3rd party) a queen & king room almost 3 months before our stay. 2 weeks before the trip, I wanted to see if I could add some accommodations & ask if there was free parking so I tried to call. I called 3 times that day and 3 times again a week before the trip. No answer. The day of the trip, I called the customer service line & asked if the hotel was open because I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone & why our reservation now says 2 queen rooms. The answer was yes, it's free parking & it changed because of the availability. I asked how come I didn't receive any notification informing me of this & will the room be cheaper. She said we would have to talk to the front desk when we got there. I show the ladies at the front desk my confirm email and it turns out there was a water leak which is why the room isn't available. Ok, fine I want a cheaper rate then.... We asked about the parking lot and they said parking is $20/night but free if you sign up for the rewards. Their site says it's $10/night & even the parking pass they gave us says $10 on it. The hallway & rooms smell stale or moldy. The living room furniture needs to be replaced it's very worn.
