I would not recommend this vet clinic especially for your small furry family members. A few weeks ago I took my guinea pig Spud for an eye related injury. We were prescribed drops that did restore the eye and I was happy with the service. During the appointment it was highly encouraged that I get both my guinea pigs neutered because the eye injury could have been related to fighting. Although, I had not seen them fighting and did state this to the vet. He still highly encouraged it. As Spuds owner I should have done more research but I trusted that this vet had good intentions. As I look back I feel that it was an easy way for him to manipulate a situation and make more profit off it. On Thursday (2/15) I took both my male guinea pigs in to get neutered. That night I noticed some abnormal swelling on Spud that was not present on Javier (the other guinea pig). There was no bleeding though so I decided to monitor it. By Friday the swelling looked a little less but my husband and I both decided it wasnt concerning enough to go back to the vet yet. On Saturday (2/17) my husband checked in the morning and Spud was fine. No blood present and he was eating but again still swollen. At around 12 I went up to give their daily veggies and to my horror I found Spud, his intestines were hanging out of him. We immediately rushed to an emergency animal clinic but unfortunately it was too late. Before I make any further comments I am completely aware that he could have ripped his own stitches open. The emergency vet did verbally tell us there was a piece of tissue that was supposed to be there to keep the intestines in but it was not present. She could not tell us if this was due to him scratching it or if it was removed during surgery. In her written report she noticed both sutures were missing from both sides of his incision! I find this odd he would scratch both sides away. The thing that makes me just as upset as losing Spud is how this clinic handled it or should I say didnt. My husband called on Monday (2/19) to express our heartache and to make the vet aware of the situation. We wanted him to look over the notes that the emergency clinic provided because that vet said it could be beneficial to go over it with him. My husband was told the vet was on lunch and she would get the vet to call back later that day. As of today Thursday (2/22) we have had no contact. I suggest you find a vet clinic that provides more care and more compassion especially in these types of situations. Ive never been to a vet clinic that doesnt do follow up vet calls and I have especially never experienced losing a pet and them being aware and not hearing anything. I hope this clinic does better and I especially hope you receive better service if you decide to take your pet here!
