Lori,Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We acknowledge that your first visit here was not up to our normal standards. Because of this, we credited you over $700 towards your second visit. On your 1st visit, we found that the cable for the right rear ABS sensor was not plugged fully into the ECU. Once we separated that connection we found that moisture had gotten in and corrosion had started to form in the cable. Our course of action was to replace the cable and sensor. During the process of the repair, the bracket that holds the sensor broke due to the age of the trailer. We replaced that as well. During our test pull, we noted that the Abs light was still on. Since you were here to pick it up (Even though we had not called and informed you that it was done) we were rushed to try a few quick things and did not have any luck in fixing this issue. It was indicated that the trailer was needed and it couldn’t be left with us any further. A bill was made for the work performed and you took the trailer. The trailer was dropped off in the afternoon/evening of the 4th and you picked it up in the early evening of the 6th. 2 days total time. It was at this point that you contacted us and let us know that you felt like we could have done better and voiced your frustration with the fact that the ABS light was still on. We agreed. We don’t like seeing that units leave here with the same issue that they came in with. Especially if there is a bill involved. We offered to look at the trailer again for free and if it was something simple we would take care of the bill. We scheduled the trailer to come back on the morning of the 16th and you said that we would be able to have it for a couple of days. You were unable to drop it off on the 16th and rescheduled for the 17th. At this point, you informed us that you needed it back the next day. We dropped everything moved you to the front of the line and began working on your trailer right away. When we hooked the computer up to the Abs we found codes for the same sensor as before. We found that the sensor was pushed out too far and needed the distance reset. We reset the distance and took it for a test pull and the same code came back. At this point, we noticed that the tone ring was not sitting correctly on the hub due to rust but we wanted to rule out an issue with the Abs Ecu. So we took the Ecu out and replaced it with a test Ecu that we have at the shop. We took the unit on another test pull and this time the code stayed the same. With the test ECU, we confirmed that there was an issue with that hub/tone ring. Everything thing to this point we had done for free in good faith. We put the original ECM into the trailer noting that it was showing signs of overheating. It was at this point you were advised that we recommended replacing the Hub and bearings. When you were advised of the cost of this repair you asked if we could do anything further to help you out with the bill to which we gave an additional $150 off. The repairs were completed 1st thing in the morning on the 18th. When we completed the repairs on the hub we test-pulled the trailer for over 1 hour of road time and did not have the ABS light come on. We advised that there still was the chance that the ECU could be failing and that is why the issue was intermittent along with the mechanical repairs that were completed. We advised that if the light comes back on during a long pull the ECU would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a straightforward repair, but it is impossible to repair something if you don’t fix what you find along the way. You can’t move further down the troubleshooting tree if there are issues in the earlier steps. The trailer was here for 3 days, not 5 as stated.
