Heartland Hospice

Our mothers hospice care was very sudden in the ER and ICU. Our mother was heavily dosed with pain meds and then completely knocked out with anti anxiety meds to the point of no communication at all. This wad not explained to us. There was very little communication with promedica during the process. No one was checking in, or even there for us in the end ..ofomother's death

We had outstanding service! We had to leave Hospice for VA because they were so neglectful, uncaring, and broke their word. Heartland Hospice was wonderful as they made my dad comfortable physically in his last days: The CM called us regularly, the Music Therapist was there as he died, the Spiritual Guide came and prayed with us after he died, and I met with the Bereavement Counselor.

My family had a horrible experience with Heartland Hospice and I would never recommend Heartland Hospice to anyone. I belong to many organizations both in Richmond and throughout the state if Virginia. I am making sure that people know how my father and family suffered under the care of Heartland Hospice.My family and I contacted their management and explained the pain and suffering my father endured from one of their nurses and the fact that they did not have sufficient supply of medication at my fathers assisted living facility. He suffered in severe pain for hours waiting for Heartland Hospice to supply the medications that any hospice should have had for his comfort and care.  It was totally inexcusable.  Heartland Hospice does a poor job of explaining their services until after you sign up with them. Their nursing  staff is clearly understaffed and not very compassionate. To the nursing staff you are just another number.I have spoken to management with no response back to investigate what happened to my father. The response from management is just to move on. I'm writing this so that if you have a loved one who has to go on hospice please do not use Heartland Hospice.
