As a radiologic technologist I would deter any other tech from accepting a job with this group.

I racked up over $2k in medical bills over 5 months with 2 different orthoVa doctors and at no point did my condition or pain improve AT ALL. In fact, they made it much worse by giving me a cortisone shot which my current dr speculates may have been administered incorrectly. Was never asked about my daily activities or what I did for living (I work on my feet!) I called about the increasing pain and was brushed off by the nurse. Was never referred to PT, just prescribed ibuprofen. This experience put me into a bit of depression- medical debt, thinking there was nothing else to do but surgery, or I would never be able to be active w/o pain. I have since went to a new practice where I was referred to PT and prescribed an anti-inflammatory cream (so Im not taking all these pills!) and I feel sooo much better after less than 2 months. Save your time, money, and health and find a different place.

Lockett Garnett was in for 4 minutes . He literally brushed me off. I had been referred to Ortho va from a friend. The drive was about 30-40 mins from home so since I got the referral I decided it would be worth it to drive. The first thing he says when he enters the room is why are you driving here thrown for a loop that that would be the first thing someone would say coming in. After his 3 min explanation of what he found on my mri I asked more questions and he got frustrated and sent in a nurse to try to explain the same thing . Never saw him after that he never said anything he just left out the room and a nurse came in. Got a second opinion and Im here to say Im glad I did! The new Ortho took the time to show me a graph of where my injury is and explain to me what I injured and my condition. Talked to me for about 10 minutes until I understood and even then he told me if I had Anymore questions to send him a message. When I left Garnetts office I literally cried the whole way home confused . Since I was told there was nothing that really be done besides an injection I had to pay over 600 in cash for. That may not even work. With my second opinion I left feeling good and optimistic that Id still be able to be active with some limitations on going full force . Always advocate for yourself! Im not sure about all the other surgeons but G Lockett on Bremo road made me feel worse leaving then I did Coming in. . So if you have a sports injury or injury and you are emotional about it or taking it hard Make sure you see someone other than him. Because bedside manner goes along way in treatment.

My first appt the receptionist was wildly rude to me and every other person I saw them speak to then asked me to announce my personal information in front of the entire waiting room. 2nd appt the Dr gave me a steroid shot to the knee with no after care instructions. I assumed that meant there was nothing for me to do differently outside of my normal routines. I had severe pain and swelling for 2 days so I called to double check with a nurse. She basically just giggled and said well everyone is different. I had to specifically ask if I should avoid stairs, how long to wait until I should be concerned etc. which she still never really answered. I understand that each person is different but to send a patient in pain home with literally no information is crazy. I had to google after care concerns and recovery of tendinitis to learn anything. Everyone told me this was the best ortho in rva but its been my worst medical experience ever.
