I like my doctor here, Dr. Neuman, but the phone system needs a complete overhaul. I have spent 1.5 hours in the past getting passed around, hung up on, waiting for a call back after being hung up on, just to be hung up on again. Unless you have a free day to do absolutely nothing else, who has time for that? I could hardly even get an apology for that mess, either. Anyway, so I just got an automated call, text, and email that my annual appointment this fall has been canceled due to the doctor's schedule. I called in and surprisingly got ahold of a scheduler right away (usually I have to request a call back). I introduced myself and explained the situation, and she replied asking for my birthdate. I provided that, then she asked me for my name. As someone who works in a phone queue myself, the lack of active listening skills drives me up an actual wall. Once it was settled why I was calling, she refused to reschedule me, stating that I had my annual this year already. I explained that I had it last October and that the appointment she was referring to was a problem visit. She then put me on hold, then repeated the exact same thing to me again. I again reiterated that that wasn't true and asked why I was able to schedule it to begin with if that was the case. She then transferred me to the doctor's nurse's voicemail. So now I'll have to wait for her to call me back, and chances are that I won't be able to pick up based on my own work schedule, and chances are that she's going to refer me back to the schedulers based on my past experience. It shouldn't be this darn hard to book and maintain an appointment time. As I said, Dr. Neuman is great, but dealing with the office staff is such a consistent chore. It makes me want to consider finding care elsewhere.
